Re: Good Morning!

Yep @Former-Member

Re: Good Morning!

Exactly @TAB
Its just the job itself

Re: Good Morning!

I see you are both chatting politics @TAB @Former-Member
I am hoping for a minority government this year. I think both parties are on the nose and I have no patience for their games. As soon as you have a majority you can play around. At least minority government means you are limited in how you can waste money lol.
I have no time anymore for major parties

Re: Good Morning!

well that's it then @MDT  you could still keep in touch with them if you wanted to I guess.Just off to job place appt here, well who knows where this job is going after me breaking down physically on the job, nowhere fast I'd imagine. Think I would be looking for an out if I were them lol

Re: Good Morning!

well the govt is a minority atm think @MDT  they are are just collecting pay cheques lol

Hopefully labour landslide and never see Morrison and his cronies again, well to they have to appear before ICAC lolz...

anyway back later

Re: Good Morning!

Good morning and good afternoon @TAB @MDT @Former-Member @Former-Member @Daisydreamer @greenpea @Shaz51 @Meowmy @oceangirl and all forumites here. Happy Thursday!

I’m sorry I’m a little late to the party today- too many things going on in my life such as organising Tafe in preparation for Monday class start and having phone appointments with the relevant people to make sure I’m ready to go and know what I’m getting myself in for with the course in mental health. I’ll be fine!

Take care!

Re: Good Morning!

Hi @Judi9877,

You have so much dedication and obvious passion for this field of study I have no doubt you will do amazingly in the course. We're all here backing you, you've got this 👩‍🎓

Re: Good Morning!

Hi @Former-Member
Thanks so much for the wonderful words of support! It’s very much appreciated so thank you! I’ve had so many attempts at the Certificate IV in Mental Health and I’ve come so close to completing it but things have got in the way such as self sabotage and motivation and confidence issues, not to mention my hospital admission last September when I started the course again in July, so I’m really going to push myself to complete it once and for all. My psychologist is aware of my issues and we’re going to work through them including having a phone appointment after next weeks first week of the course which is online for the time being here in Melbourne. I’ve also got a phone appointment tomorrow with one of the Tafe counsellors to talk through my anxiety issues surrounding starting the course again and what they can do to help me which is really positive.

I’m hoping to use my experience here as a Community Guide as a way of getting the practical placement hours up for the course which 80 hours is required to gain the certificate. I love my CG role and have  learnt so much from it over the past 18 months that I’m hoping to use the skills gained here to help me with the course as the course covers everything from self advocacy to suicide and mental health and drug and alcohol issues and trauma informed care practices so lots of interesting things and some topics I’ve covered here on the forums as well.
I’m really looking forward to starting the course and I’m making sure I do everything I can to actually start, work through and complete the course once and for all. I really want to get a job in the mental health field so this is a motivation for me, especially since Victoria has got lots of jobs planned in the sector due to the mental health royal commission that I was part of. Fingers crossed for a good year!

Take care!

Judi9877☺️🍀

Re: Good Morning!

sounds like a lot better use of your time @Judi9877  hope it all goes okay 😎

Re: Good Morning!

Dear @Judi9877 ,

It's incredible to read of your strength and persistence in following your passion and dreams.

Your contribution to the forums as a CG has been invaluable. Have you know, I was also a CG on SANE before going into peer work as a peer support worker. The experience as a CG gave me so much confidence, and I realised peer work was something I wanted to pursue. Through my challenges, I saw I could support others.

So here am I today. From CG to peer support worker. It's taken time, but well worth it!

All the best with your studies!

Happy for you to reach out if you have any questions about peer work.
