Premature pressure to move on from grief can be very destructive.
Yes in the fullness of time it may be good to "move on", but that fullness involves a lot of processing and growing new contacts or meanings that can bear the truth of the loss and still be there. Too much ease in moving on can mean that the loss is simply not deep or significant. Grief is a TRULY psychosocial experience, as it involves "other" and as such needs social recognition.

@TAB I was happy to hold my little Abbey while she took her last breath. But Vets should not assume that everyone wants to do this or that everybody can. We always have the right to ask the vet nurse to hold our pet, to hold our hand, whatever we need.
