Hello ShiningStar,
Regarding Computer Storage Space
The SD card is quite small in size and would need to be kept in a separate envelope or plastic bag, marked with the contents of the card. These cards are reasonably good for single project, assignment type work, but are fragile and prone to being lost or misplaced. Some may require, or be provided with an adaptor, to suit the two different possible sizes of the port on the computer.
The USB stick or thumb drive is bigger and can have a key tag, which is about the same size, attached that identifies the general contents of the drive.
If you want to take a lot of information off you internal hard drive, as back-up, or to use it as a totally independent drive, a portable or external hard drive is, I believe, the way to go. They are about the size of a largish wallet and can be carried unobtrusively, in a large purse, handbag, or backpack. 1 and 2 TB (ie a very large amount of storage space) cost between $70 and & $100. The 2 TB drives are only about $10-$20 more than the 1 TB drives. These drives connect via a short connecting cable (like a phone charging cable) to the USB port on any computer. If your computer is an older model, these drives may have more available storage space than the hard drive already in your computer or laptop. They are very useful for work, or any other location where you have access to a computer in another location, (library or workplace etc.) and means that you don't have to take your laptop with you.
Unless you want the ultra-portability of the SD card or the convenience of a USB stick or thumb drive, for relatively small downloads, I would recommend the External Hard Drive. These are available as solid state (SSD or Solid State Drives) or the older spinning disc type drive (HDD - Hard Disc Drive) that, if they are still available, may be a little lower in cost, but slightly heavier.
These items are generally available at office supplies retail outlets.
Hope this information helps
Best Wishes
HenryX

Hi @ShiningStar @TAB ,
These are examples of the type that I would recommend. Fully enclosed and sealed, for security of information, knowing where my storage drive is, and least likelihood of losing or breaking. From major Office Supplies and other retail outlets.
WD Elements SE 1TB USB3.0 Portable Hard Drive $53.00
WD Elements SE 2TB USB3.0 Portable Hard Drive $69.00
Cheers

Thanks @HenryX
Been thinking of getting a hard drive but first it would be good to get memory out of my old computer. If I open it with a screwdriver do you think you could talk me through it.
My spt wkr said I should be able to retrieve it somehow.
