Re: Everything Birds

@Former-Member @Adge  Hi EOR no I havent visited this site so thanks for tagging me :D. Where I was living before this property there was a mother maggie, her daughter and her enormous baby son 😮 !. He was huge lol. I would feed them until they depended upon it too much. She would come up to the window of the kitchen and look at me waiting for food. She even knew my car lol. I just love maggies :)xx

Re: Everything Birds

Wow, you have had some dealings with magpies @ greenpea. They can be friendly. My Furbaby dog GG hates Maggie's, chases them but fortunately they take off quicker. One day I tied her to aluminium chair at caravan park while I ducked to toot, on my way back here she was chasing a magpie across the field with the chair bouncing in tow behind her 😯 No, she's not a big dog, only a little placid sitzu-x. Those birds definately trigger a monster within though lol

@greenpea @Former-Member @Adge @Shaz51 @Eve7

I heard many negative stories about magpies, before I became familiar with their song.  I lived among too much concrete in inner city.  Also too much romanticism about Europe and their song birds,   So now I am grateful and enjoy.

Interesting that the woman and to say they were well behaved ... stigma and fear ... seems to spread quicker than joy.

Re: Everything Birds

My Dad used to feed the Magpies in his backyard @greenpea @Former-Member @Appleblossom

Soon more than 10 Magpies were regularly coming, to be fed.

Mum kept on feeding them, after Dad died (for the past 5 years).

I love Magpie Song.

The Magpies on the East Coast are the Black-Backed Magpies (generally) - Those are the ones Mum feeds, the ones I grew up with (was used to).

Our Magpies here (WA) are White-Backed Magpies (look very different).

White-Backed Maggies have a very different Song (apparently) from Black-Backed Magpies.

I woke to these created Pigeons outside my bedroom window this morning.

Hey, an observation I've made. Since I got my birdbath out of storage and kept a constant flow of clean water to it - the peewee birds have stopped that ear piercing screech 😃👍

Hi @Appleblossom, how was your? w'end

This male crested pigeon is resting and making a song to attract a female mate. Native to Australia it has a colourful detail on the wings somewhat a rainbow when reflected by the sun.

@Former-Member It was very good thank you.  I am making a new friend who also lives locally. We have a lot in common and planning to do music. He is very christian.

Making music and bird song is so natural that I feel normal for a bird ....
