Re: Craft Corner

Hi everyone ☺

Thanks @Former-Member and @Former-Member 😊 I have had the crocodile booties pinned for ages so it was nice to get around to it SunShower. It's a yarn eater but in small projects that's ok with me. I wasn't too fussed with matching the colour changes with boot 2 because I thought it would be cool to be a little odd, but I did want the body of them to be similar so I changed it when I went to build up the rest. It works I think (and I high fives myself that I managed It!)

The yarn is Moda Vera Fayette from memory Sunshower. It's one of the discontinued ones which makes me sad (it was $2 though 😮). After my little sad that my favourite was discontinued I found the Lion Brand "Landscapes" line. Oh my! I'll have to wait until it goes on super special though!

The pretty is strong with this one 😁

I really like the idea of rewarding yourself with something special after a hard week (and sorry you've had one of them 🙁). Did you find something that felt right?

Fawn, brown and mulberries sound amazing for that vest!

I think a hair wrap in "old lady waist length grey hair" would be so cool! I plan on being cool like that when I am older though I tend to go for more the shaved hair look which probably won't work with hair wraps 😉

I'm taking my Dr's suggestion to get out of the house and visit some local spots I haven't checked out yet so I am at a park with trees, water and ducks with my project bag at the moment. This is how I plan on spending the next couple of hours which feels pretry good.

Hope your day has some smiles/goodness in it ❤

Re: Craft Corner

Those booties are soo soo beautiful @CheerBear that's briliant work, I like how you got the foot part so similar to each other, makes them look like a pair, then the top is different. Gosh that's lovely. I'm so happy for you. High fives to you from me for getting that foot part so well matching!

Thank you for the name of that yarn, darn that it's no longer available, but I'm allergic to wool and if I'm remember the correct info, that one is a wool blend, so couldn't use it anyways. *sigh* I use mostly cotton, cotton blends, with acrylics too. Lion Brand has some lovely stuff too, it's nice it's now sold in Australia, but bit 'spensive. That Landscapes is indeed strong on the pretty! I am very attracted to multicoloured yarns. Smiley EmbarassedSmiley LOL

I have not yet found a reward for myself, if you have any ideas I'm willing to listen. I just can't get excited about any yarns, or fabric, or anything, maybe need a helping hand with that. Smiley Frustrated

I hope you had a lovely outing with the ducks and the water and your crochet - I used to do that and I miss being able to.

I cranked (crank knitter from Lincraft) another length of flat panel for a 'something' I'm making from some Tootgarook pink & white cotton yarn from Spotlight today. Pleased as the first one I did took days to do, but I've learned more how to use it now.

I do hope everyone's crafting is bring them joy. ((((( Craft hugs )))))

Re: Craft Corner

Just have to figure out how to attach one piece to the other without destroying any hope of balancing.

He's a bit of a mess, but he's my mess.

Re: Craft Corner

Wow @TheVorticon impressive work! I can see the balance re joining might be an issue. Can't wait to see what you do with it. Without a pattern, that is awesome work. Heart

Re: Craft Corner

Thanks @Former-Member 🙂

Re: Craft Corner

Oh my - I am so glad I caught this tonight. Seriously cool @TheVorticon! And seriously impressive without a pattern too. I love your not-at-all-a mess and thank you for sharing him with us. Huge congrats for persevering - totally worth it ☺

Waving to @Former-Member also. I'll reply properly to your message above soon but sending you craft-hugs til then ❤

Re: Craft Corner

I had to come back and visit this today @TheVorticon. It makes me smile lots. I'm curious as to why Farfetch'd (of course you totally don't have to explain that!). I saw something really cool with those little glass stone/bead things to help yarn craft stand up. I used it with the seaweed for the pet goldfish in a jar (not sure if you saw that one) and I glued the seaweed to a glass bead with hot glue which gave it some weight and a flat bottom to stand on. I wonder if it would work to put one on the end of the leek and have the body of him almost using the leek to rest on (that makes more sense in my head!). I am about a million percent sure that, seeing as you have made what you what you have, you can get him to balance somehow though.

Hi @Former-Member. I was having a bit of a think about something nice. What about a crochet along (CAL) project? There are some huge ones like Mandala Madness which is the one I have done, and Sophie's Universe (which I am trying not to do 😉 ) but there are also smaller ones too. I'm on the hunt for a not enormously challenging (like mega dragon) or incredibly long project, but something that will give me quite a few hours of gentle distraction. If you feel like having a Google and seeing whether one grabs your attention, it could be fun. I find it so interesting to see how the same pattern can look so different depending on the colours chosen.

I had to Google crank knitter. Is it like an automatic loom? If so, I am thinking of all those hours I've spent encouraging one of mine to keep going with a loom to make a scarf and all those hours they've patiently spent chipping away at it and getting not very far at all!

Hope today is ok enough for you both/all 🙂

Re: Craft Corner

@CheerBear I found a youtube vid for the Lincraft crank knitter. They seem to be sold out again online, but some stores will probably have them in stock. You can knit in a tube, or knit a flat panel. I've been doing flat panels for a shawlie type over vestie thingamy. It may or may not work, and it may or may not end up being frogged (undone). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=APYH6iKLnSw

I don't have the patience for those peg looms or for knitting needles although I had a knitting nancy as a child. *sigh* Isn't that weird. Hand pain definitly affects knitting more than crochet. I would definatley encourage little ones to learn how to do it though. The crank knitter is a lesson in patience too I must admit.

I will have to look up what the standyuppy things you speak of are CheerBear. That sounds interesting.

Re the CAL - thank you, that is a good idea. Smiley Very Happy Hmmm, maybe we could find something we could work on together ....  What would you choose? Would you wear a shawl, or would you need it to be a blanket? Sophies' Universe is very pretty, but I don't want to do another rug/ blanket.

I decided last night that the best thing for me to probably do would be to use some of the awesome yarn I have in my stash to make myself something a bit special. I was paid in yarn for some work I did for someone a few years ago.

My choice and something I never thought I'd be able to afford the amount of for the project I wanted to make with it. She had specials and stuff and I ended up with I think 20 balls of King Cole Opium in Lilac  to make something sort of similar to this. circular mandala vest

I make each one differently but the basic shaping and concept is the same, some have sleeves, some have hoods. I also have some of that in Champagne from another paid in yarn project I did.

I think taking up something like that is the best I can do for myself, given there are a couple of projects that have been languishing in their tubs due to one reason or another.

I have to think about things now, and go check out my yarns.

Hoping you all have much crafting happinesses in everyone's day.

Re: Craft Corner

Good morning ☺

@Former-Member that mandala vest 😮 I took a lovely trip to dreamy land looking at it yesterday! I started sussing out what could be used to make it as I've never used a cotton before. I LOVE the colours. I'd be torn between wanting black to match most of my wardrobe and wanting rainbow colours to make me happy. It's so beautiful!

Now I'm torn between wanting to dive into something like that and wanting another CAL project! And then there's the micro too (but that's more a want to nail this one, kind of thing). I'm probably with you in that I have lots of blankets/rugs around and it might be nice to try something that is different. A CAL project together would be fun! If you stumble across something let me know if you'd like, and I'll keep my eye out too.

Love the idea of being paid in yarn ☺

I'm heading out and about this morning and may head into a crafty place as there is one that is not too far from where I am going. I like to feel and see yarns before I settle on what to make/use if it's going to be a decent project. Really probably should work out how to organise my stash better too as it's a big mess at the moment. Not sure where to start with that one 🤔

Hope it's a good one for you ❤

Re: Craft Corner

@CheerBear I have some images for you that you might like, but I can't do anything more here right now, just wanted to let you know.
