Hello @rav3n
I am still a newbie at SANE, and have found not only a lot of pleasure but a sense of community, keep up the good work.
In the past 10 years I have self-published books this a personal goal of mine and while this marked an achievement there have been difficulties. After over twenty years working Centrelink declared me less than able to work due to issues with schizophrenia and other problems and the disability support pension became my main income.
This took as much adjusting to as the schizophrenia, and that was a quagmire not only mentally but also medically, and my thoughts are that those who can work and wonder upon retirement soldier on as the social, societal and financial benefits of work once lost can be sadly missed.
My son, now 24, has just completed his university and has been in his first job for about three months. As a divorced dad helping him through these times has been very rewarding and remains so, and fortunately he has none of my health issue, must have his mother's genes.
There is ten years, may yours be both challenging and rewarding at SANE.

@rav3n congratulations on 10 years 🙂
I am only a very recent member, have loved being a part of this - even if only a short time.

Thanks for the tag @Shaz51
I found the forums late in 2016 I think it was when my wife (aka my darling) was in the midst of a breakdown and at the time in a private mental health ward. I came across the forum by accident when researching ECT.. joined up to put my 2ç rant in on a discussion around support people.being validated and valued as part of the solution rather than being treated like part of the problem. Just thinking about that season now makes me feel upset and angry 😡
Among the first to reach out to me and make me feel welcome were @Shaz51,
@Faith-and-Hope and former members darcy and soul.
Not sure how I would have navigated this season without the ability to talk to people who understand. Plenty of people around me who genuinely care but few who actually understand what it is to support someone you care about who has.no desire to continue with life.
Dropped off for a couple of years due to lack of.time or energy to engage when I thought it would be a good idea to.return to full time work. Became the primary support person for Father in law, (who we lost in June) and generally life piling it on. (I have said this many times but well aware I am not alone in this).
Anything else I can add to that is starting to sound like a whinge. Not in a good space atm. But wanted to say that this space will always hold memories of the connection and friendships formed here out of the trials .

10 years ago was living with my partner, we married in August 2015. Was working full time, was enjoying what I did (helping people) but struggling with lots of work related items. My partner, already retired, spent time 6 days a week with his dad. Had almost zero social life but we were happy together.
joined SANE year or 2 ago looking for help, support, people to chat with about positives and negatives in every day life plus mental health issues.
what I found is a wonderful caring community. People I feel I’ve known for long time, that have welcomed me and helped me feel safe sharing things on this site. People who, regardless if have same life experiences as me, are happy to chat, to support, to listen and to laugh with.

gosh reading everyone's posts in here is so heart-warming and beautiful! as a newer mod myself, it's really lovely knowing that this sense of community and the compassion members share exists regardless of when we've joined & where we were 10 years ago 💗
thank you to everyone who has contributed so far, and i look forward to reading more stories and experiences ✨
