Re: Christmas Loungeroom

I would like to share a little story.

When I was in NYC last month I visited the Rockefellar centre. There was a giant tree with Christmas lights and an ice-skating ring beneath it.

I was in NYC on my own and all around me I saw families and couples embracing with the spirit of Christmas. Initially my response was troublesome because I had neither of these at that time, no family nearby and no sweetheart to hold. But I sat down and watched people going past, bought myself a mocca and just looked at the whole crowd of people. Each one of them with their own story to tell. Their own heartache to endure. Their own troubles to get past.

While I sat there I saw people skating and falling over. I saw children eating candy. I saw couples kissing under the tree.

There was such a warmth and generosity of spirit and community that struck me like never before. It reminded me that no matter who we are and where we are at in life, we all have this fundamental need to connect. Even if we are alone at Christmas it pays to remember that there are others who know what it is to be alone at Christmas time.

Rather than focus on what we don't have, it pays to remember that there are others who know what that is like. And in remembering that, you can overcome the sense of loss or loneliness that can hit you at Christmas.

I hope all your forumites have a nice Christmas 🙂

Re: Christmas Loungeroom

That's  a beautiful wish @eth - peace and patience. ❤

Re: Christmas Loungeroom

That was a lovely post to red @MDT - and yes there are people that do not have even the simple things we have - and we all have our stories to tell. It doesn't matter what we do or don't have at this time of year - it is the human spirit that endures and we can all share the connections we have here at this time of year and I for one am grateful for that. My thoughts definitely go out to those that need it this year and hope that a little connection for some people on here helps to ease the loneliness just a little. There are so many ways we connect with people these days and although personal, real life connection is needed it is not always possible so somewhere like this forum is important for so many. I hope everyone who needs to connect here will tomorrow (and whenever they need) will and share some of their day with others who are around.
