@rav3n yes it's a little win.
I never got into make-up. I used to have fun painting my nails cos they grow fast and get really long. But I don't have time for that anymore and I hate waiting for the nail polish to dry 😂.
My hair is curly when it first dries but then goes frizzy when I brush it. I used to sit on it when I was in school but I got teased so much for having long hair so I got it cut to shoulder length and it's never really grown back. It's halfway down my back now and that's when it's up in a pony.
ooo i loved painting my nails too! the drying part was annoying, i even got the 'instant try' polish... why do i always fall for the false-advertising label 😆
omg my hair does the SAME!! i used to have a 'boy cut' in primary school... my parents said they didn't have time to do my hair in the morning so had to deal with being called a boy at school for my hair (so fun! not.) but in high school i was finally allowed to grow my hair out and i just stuck to a ponytail cos i didn't know what else to do haha. i reckon your hairs quite long!! mine reaches just below my shoulders when in a pony tail.

@rav3n i hate those ones that say 'instant dry' like no they really aren't 😂.
Oh that sucks about the boy cut, kids can be so cruel and will pick on someone for anything. I learnt how to do my hair from a young age, I loved my long hair but the kids picking on me got the better of me so I cut it to try to fit in. Of course it didn't change anything, they just found something else to pick on me for.

@Blackcloud how amazing would it be if everyone was so welcoming and accommodating? it does suck that in reality, we have little control of it. everyone expresses themselves differently too and i imagine paying attention to tone, body language, etc., can be quite overwhelming to read and respond to. it's really great that you've tried to put yourself out there and give these things like volunteering a go, proud of ya for it!!
there are definitely work environments and managements out there that are understanding and respectful of their employees! it does suck that not EVERY place is like that though. critics can sometimes be a good a thing though - but definitely the way the person delivers it matters... like if they're saying it in a rude tone and only ever focusing on the negatives then that's not great. but if they're able to highlight/praise your strengths as well as give you some feedback on what's wrong/what needs to be worked on - sounds like a good boss to me! oh and i agree with you, definitely NOT cool to yell.
ohh yep makes sense, let me know what movie y'all end up watching and how it goes!!
that's so sweet that you'd imagine us as your client!! i'd be honoured to have you as my imagined Art Therapist. it would definitely be a lovely session each time 💙

@rav3n I totally agree - yeah as long as they're able to highlight on the employees strengths as well as telling them what they need to work on, then that's not a problem. definitely the only problem with managers is when they deliver the critics in a rude way and only focusing on the negatives! Based from all the jobs I've worked at, the managers I've dealt with have used the latter approach lmao
also, OMG I've finally received my student login details!!!! I was worried that I wouldn't be receiving them today haha,but now i finally did! 😄
I also spoke with an advisor at open universities australia, I was asking them some questions about being an arts therapist, and something they mentioned which i never knew about till now (considering ive never done a bachelors degree before) is that with arts therapy -- like to get into masters, most people choose a major (like fine arts) and then they choose additional courses (like electives) that are from the psychology field. So that's something I can consider about!! 😄 I know that the electives part existed but i never knew that electives actually meant as in you can pick the units that are from a different field. now that means i wont need to think about ever wanting to do a double degree! 😛

@Gremlin24 EXACTLY we deserve our money back!!
ughh i'm sorry that you felt pressured to change yourself to fit in. i can definitely relate to that and it sucks!! some kids really have nothing better to do, like stop worrying about me and go read a book 😆 so you've never dyed your hair before?

@Blackcloud , art therapy is great. I believe you can do a Masters to become an art therapist.
@ArraDreaming , good to see you here. Sounds good about meeting new friends.

@rav3n yes we do 😂.
I tried so hard to fit in and it got me nowhere. Oh I've coloured my hair in all different bright and funky colours. I used to have it black with blue, pink and purple streaks through it.

@Blackcloud ugh that sucks that you've had to deal with that in the past! one of my previous roles was like that too... definitely hurt my self-confidence. i hope the next place you work in helps build your confidence back up and makes you feel comfy.
oh yayyy!! now you can explore the portal all weekend hehe. ooo a psych elective would be fun, hopefully its not too 'stats' heavy for your liking. the content is definitely interesting though.
there were a bunch of electives in my degree too - so even though i majored in Psych, i did elective subjects in criminology, anthropology, screen studies, painting/drawing, Spanish, French, etc. definitely take advantage of those electives!! but just remember that those electives don't count as 'majors' or 'specialisations', they're more of an opportunity to explore other interest areas. they can be useful to add in your resume/cover letters though - and defs can be helpful for your masters as you mentioned!

@rav3n not related to your post, but I have a quick question regarding the application for the CSP and HECS-HELP loan. There's a question on the application that asks Do you also plan to make a partial upfront payment of your student contribution amount? and you'd have to either select yes or no. However, below that, they also show this:
Note: This is only an indication of your payment option.
If you nominate to pay your student contribution amount upfront but do not pay the full student contribution amount to your provider by the census date:
I'm wondering, according to the info above, would there be any issue if I selected 'no' for that question?
