Re: Best Friends Club

@Glisten that is a great text you sent back!

That person sounded so entitled like you owe to help them.

You did a great job standing up to yourself and putting her in her place.

Well done 👏

I'm proud of you 🥰🫂

Re: Best Friends Club

@PeppyPatti I had more than one positive thing today - I felt appreciated by a young friend I have been mentoring for about a year now. They thanked me for being a true friend which I haven't experienced before.

I got to chat with you, @Glisten and @TAB to name a couple of positive interactions and I was happy for most of the day.

My sweet Peppy. Never underestimate how much of a positive influence you are. You are such an important part of my journey ♥️

Re: Best Friends Club

@Glisten I'm so glad my words resonated. You made me smile just now and my heart is doing a little dance. I meant every word.

Keep on going! Your strength and determination are an inspiration for me and many.

Hugs back 🤗 🫂🫂🫂

Hello and hugs my sister @Healandlove , @Glisten 😍

Re: Best Friends Club

@Jynx I don't think mum was emotionally immature, it was more of over compensating because before Dad followed his other brain and bonked another woman (one of many I found out later) and decided he didn't want us anymore, he was particularly cruel to my brother.

TW: Family Violence

Content/trigger warning
One time he was beating bro so much that bro couldn't even cry anymore. Mum said to my dad to lay off and dad replied that his old man used to thrash him and he was okay (Ha!) to which mum replied, yes and how do you feel about your father now? My dad really hated his stepfather. He stopped beating my bro then but he pretty much ignored him.

I didn't realise it while I was a kid but as I matured I saw that while mum would do bro's chores for him I was expected to make my own school lunch, iron my own clothes and do whatever mum demanded of me. I had to go to church each week, bro didn't. My aunt also noticed it.

I certainly do not resent my bro (in fact he lives with me) and I have long forgiven mum but I have never felt like I was number 1 in anyones' lives, even when I was in committed relationships.

Like you, I don't see there being a negative to gallows humour. Any humour that doesn't rely on hurting another person is a good thing IMO
