Re: Welcome To The Conversation

Thanks @TAB you don't need to be sorry. It's kind.

@Appleblossom @Historylover roomie,

I don't like airing my dirty laundry - I have no idea what that phrase means ... I don't like having problems for people to read, esp. On site where we all have our own specific crisis occurring. I like to be uplifting, & give others positive energy - it helps me too. And I am an overthinker! Simple, reminders are good for me.

Anyway, I was watching this SANE video & reading about symptoms of feeling suicidal,

https://betteroffwithyou.org.au/feeling-like-a-burden

I am better educated. Difficult to read, that this feeling of 'being a burden' & not wanting to ask for help, not feeling deserved of it - is actually part of symptoms. It makes me a little sad to see the reality of what I'm experiencing.

I literally have all of these:

  • .Needing support to manage physical or mental health issues
  • .Depending on others for emotional or financial support
  • .Being negative or depressed around others
  • .Letting people down or bringing shame on others
  • Relapsing into addiction or negative behaviours.

I feel,  less of a burden, now I know this is common, normal part of the emotional response.

I hope you feel stronger, & better very soon @Historylover

Sorry, if I didn't answer any of you directly. Of course you should feel ok about your music preferences Apple. It's difficult to not want to be accepted. I don't want to be alone. I can feel very odd, & weird - after watching video, I think it's lots to do with my mental health. Seeing other people enjoying, & coping with life, doing normal life things - I feel isolated, cause my brain doesn't function like this. I have to put on act & pretend I am social & keep up appearances.

Seeing & speaking with people who are able to work, maybe full time or study, or raise a family...it's the worst, feeling like I'm so wildly different than what society expects of me. Then, I can remind myself, - I'm not alone ... At all. There are lots of us that feel EXACTLY this way. We don't see each other - cause we are hiding, away from the world. All we see, out in the world, are the functioning people. It's bittersweet. Leaving the house is good for me, refreshing &.   it hurts like hell.

I have appts later in the week. I don't have anything tomorrow. It scares me. I have been ruminating these last few hours, what is I could possibly do. There is nothing coming to mind.

I have thought of a phonecall I need to make re: payment I'm possibly eligible for. Ok.💜

Re: Welcome To The Conversation

Re: Welcome To The Conversation

@StanD Shame had silenced me for 40 years.  So I decided to air dirty laundry so to speak ... in order to come to terms with ALL my experiences.  Big part of my problem was knowing which things were alright to mention and which not ,  then reflecting, on the various social feedback I have had, and a bit disgusted, with the lack of reciprocity I experienced. So now, I am out there LOUD and PROUD a lot more, but sometimes stooped and shakey and vulnerable like today ... when I was getting flat tyre dealt with.  Also a drama on the tmrw list.

I do not like to feel like a burden either, put work in, and try and be positive and uplifting, but without some weight of reality or truth included ... it can get a little fake or disconnected, hype veering on toxic positivity... anyway that is the way I see it.  I also know everyone has dirty laundry and am getting tired of pretending they dont, and oh ... maybe my laundry is not that dirty.

Little plans for getting the jobs that need to be done ... seem the best way to go.

Take care

Apple

Ooooooh..... Wow @Appleblossom ....

Re: Welcome To The Conversation

Hope I did not upset you @StanD Just had so much shame from early childhood with family mental health diagnosis.  Reframing my story now without using pathologising words as much as possible.

Take Care

Apple

Re: Welcome To The Conversation

I don't think you upset me @Appleblossom

Thankyou for talking with me. Giving me your time. And all the others. It is precious. And...I think... Even tho, you... & others are not my 'friends' in traditional way I'm used to, you are. I say this because, - it's so tiny ... a support, a warm comment ... In this world of mine ... Where at times, I'm disconnected, hopeless, .... These 'tiny' gestures, it's all I have - at times.

I hope you all know that. I hope you all realise, the words we write, they are not nothing - they are lifelines, from friendly people, who care.

I am maybe the saddest..... I'm not the only one that secretly clings to the words of a stranger ...a history... Love .... Connection.

@nervouswreck thankyou. I did live longer.

Apple I appreciate you understanding the language we are guided to use. "Safe" is a trigger for me. I don't mind if I'm told 'you are safe now' I hate being forced to agree.

Maybe @moderator can suggest alternatives. I like the concept of 'code' to let others know we have no direct intention of harming ourselves. That is good, comforting practice.

I will perk up. Waking up today ... Getting out of bed ... Was really hard. I did it.

The cats are here purring & being silly, attempting to prey on birds out the window. They want there breakfast. I can't. ..... Of course, I will ... When I can.

Expressing Gratitude to y'all & I'm going to find a happier picture to brighten this post & 'end' on happy note 🎵. It's the weekend. Let's have a beautiful, calm, find sustenance, substance & lots of self care ❤️

@Shaz51 @Appleblossom @TAB hello @Historylover - I know you said you are sick, hope you are getting better, & please reply at your leisure, or not😊 @tyme @hanami @SmilingGecko & all x

Re: Welcome To The Conversation

I learnt long ago, @StanD, that we never really know what others are going through. I have reasoned that that may be one of the reasons that cliques become established. If they band together and exclude someone (especially the new person), at least they can feel that they belong, even if it costs them their true selves. Anyway, I'm ruminating.

I was thinking in past days, that although my situation is dire, I have made the best of it and it is a good life. I would like others to share it with, but finding people I have enough in common with is very difficult. I want to add to what I have, not detract from it.

I hope you're doing alright, @StanD
