Re: Living with Ourselves
Thanks @Sophia1
I hope the gentle walking exercises help you, in the pool.
That's what I do with most clients who I take in the pool - walking laps.
I don't choose to go in the pool (for myself), but I have to for work swim activities. It's tolerable, sometimes even slightly enjoyable.
Yes, there is a light at the end of the tunnel (you reminded me of) - remember that old saying?

Re: Living with Ourselves
hello @Maggie
I hope that you are feeling less fragile today....Am I might in recalling that you have physical pain also?
I felt fragile and emotional yesterday.....
then I felt very irritated with my husband at times...when I am in a lot of pain my tolerance level these days becomes very low...doing anything is a task and I feel putting up with myself too much....
every day is different...
our visitors arrived and short stay lasted two hours....was lovely actually....grumbles and laughs....
good news for her with cancer....not growing or changing ...same level for several months now...resulting in no change in medication...his back operation..fusion of discs.. was a great success and he has recovered fully from that...he still has his polymyalgia...manages well...
I wish that there was a sunny sheltered spot for me to sit outside....sadly high on a hill...a farm on one side....the wind blows around freely...
do you have a special spot in the garden where you can sit?
any thing planned for today? or a day for trying to keep warm and self nurturing?

@Former-Member
I think I read the other day that you are starting to declutter at your dad's house? was that the case?
I also read about upcoming test....it is not a pleasant feeling leading up to the test...once happening the anxiety will ease somewhat...
thinking of you...have you someone driving you there and picking you up?

Re: Living with Ourselves
ouch @outlander
does your pop have a walker...? has anyone in the health profession showed him how to get up himself by moving forward on the cushion of his seat...placing both of his hands either side of his hips..then rocking slightly ...pushing down with hands then pushing self up slowly...to hold on to his walker which you are holding strongly....
has he seen a nurse? physiotherapist? occupational therapist at home?
this is all part of manual handling to avoid injuries of those attending people who need assistance...
if not in place you can speak to his doctor..
I have an appointment this afternoon..
not doing too much...did too much yesterday morning...even though was next to nothing in the kitchen..
have a nice weekend...

Re: Living with Ourselves
How have I been keeping myself occupied. Doing the mundane mostly...always needing help with most tasks....this frustrates me ll the more..
I have been an independent person for most of my life...
I am struggling intensely continuing to ask for help...
I understand why those confined to chairs....can come across as so irritable at times...they are..I am frustrated with self..
I read..watch comedies...organise washing..
even showering washing hair takes so long....
I am going to attempt to do some drawing/sketching...
look for some knitting that I lost picked up years go..
colouring in is harder s cannot do that neatly laying down..
wht about yourself.
