Hi @Oaktree @Gwynn @BlueBay @Former-Member @Eve7 @Daisydreamer @outlander and knitting forumites here. Well done on all the knitting!

As I was feeling stressed and anxious about an upcoming Ndis meeting which was happening later in the afternoon yesterday, I decided to start knitting another beanie to help calm me down. Beanies are good for that with me, especially doing the rib pattern in the bottom as it helps centre me and keeps me in the moment. Anyway, I just finished it tonight and it will be ready to add to my pile to go to the charity that I knit for when they reopen. I hope you like it. I call this the choc mint beanie!283C881E-7BC9-4A6B-86D0-99BB96E650FF.jpeg

With this pattern, I ensure that I do 10 rows of rib and 30 rows of stocking stitch to make it a bit bigger so it caters for more people. It's the pattern I posted a bit earlier with some slight alterations. That's why it looks a bit different to the pattern @Oaktree

@Gwynn I'm up to the last sleeve on my baby blue jumper but have taken a break as I really needed to knit a beanie or 2 to help with my MH. I did manage to buy a pack of 30 x 50g balls of yarn/wool from Spotlight on sale called a Baby Go pack that will allow me to knit 6 jumpers for a cost of something like $5 a jumper for the charity that I knit for which is great value I believe.

Have fun everyone!

Re: Knitting

Hello @Judi9877  love your chocolate mint beanie, the colours are so in vogue at the moment too! Sorry to hear you have been so stressed of late having to navigate the NDIS must be very confusing from what I can gather.  You are such a kind and caring person putting in all that time and effort to not only make these beanies but buy and shop for the wool too!  So pleased you find it so relaxing. Take care 💗💐

Re: Knitting

I love the colours @Judi9877 😊

Re: Knitting

That looks awesome @Judi9877 and I love the colour combination.

Well done

Re: Knitting

Hey @Judi9877

Your choc mint beanie looks awesome. My knitting is going slowly with not much progress these last couple of days. My knitting is kinda tight on the needles and I am terrified of dropping a stitch. So I am only managing a few rows per day. Here is a progress picture.image.jpg

Re: Knitting

@Judi9877 - best of luck with the NDIS. They cut my plan this year - I haven't really looked at the finer details of it yet but it looks like they've not accounted for COVID when counting how much I spent vs how much I should have spent if it had been a normal year.

Your choc mint beanie looks fabulous! I'm sure it will be much appreciated!

Hopefully now that your NDIS meeting is over your stress levels will decrease and you'll be able to pick up the baby jumpers again.

@Oaktree , tight knitting can loosen up with practice. I tend to knit too loosely so I've been trying to do the exact opposite of the techniques listed on this page: https://sheepandstitch.com/library/how-to-fix-tight-knitting/ and it seems to be working. You're still making great progress!

Re: Knitting

Hi @Gwynn

Thanks for the link about how to loosen up tight knitting. I think it's just a practice thing as I haven't knitted much. Hopefully it will get looser with practice. How's your knitting going? What have you currently got on your needles? It's cold and wet here for the next week so perfect knitting kind of weather.

Re: Knitting

Hi @Oaktree , my knitting is going very slowly at the moment: I've made about two feet of a four-foot scarf in mistake rib stitch.  At the end I'm going to use a crochet hook to join up the two ends so that it becomes an infinity scarf.  There's a tutorial on how to do the mistake rib scarf here: https://sheepandstitch.com/pattern/infinity-scarf-pattern-tutoria/ note that you need 14 ply wool which is fairly rare outside of online purchases.   This would be the fifth mistake rib infinity scarf I've made so far and the first just for me.  🙂

on another pair of needles I've got the beginnings of a Stallion 8 ply blanket:  https://www.spotlightstores.com/projects/blanket-throw-projects/stallion-8ply-patchwork-blanket-proj... but this one is a lot harder because there's more counting involved.  When I was making a beanie for my brother recently, it was difficult to keep all the stitches on my needles as the fabric was so dense.  Hopefully he's getting some good use out of it these last few days.  IMG_2244.JPG
