That's quite the heavy load @CannonSalt! What type of books did you get? For entertainment, learning? Either way, I think your brain and eyes are going to get excercised.

Hello all you sitters, movers and carters of books.
Last night it was good to walk to and fro writers group. It was beautiful and cool after the heat of the day.
Just a walk to the train, soon. I need to be in town for an 8.30 am start.

@CannonSalt, the weight bearing exercise isa great thing. I carry books home too - and sometimes I go to the shops walking to get ****ONE***** thing and come home with 6-8 kg slung off each shoulder... I am glad we started talking about functional exercise becaue I always left that out of the equation before, and it is good if are walking, shopping, carrying books, etc when we can.
I try to organise my shopping so the heavy stuff gets done when I drive down, but it doesn't always work that way.
I was 'primed' to go to the pool yesterday but made a decision not to go. In a mild hypo (or ramping into a hypo) and that is just the time I will do something erroneous and injure myself by deciding 20 hard laps are a 'good' idea.
Did a 1.2 km walk Thursday - must walk again today. The doggits tend to keep prompting - let's go, let's go.

Doggits do tend to do that. 🙂
After having bragged about carrying 10 kgs of books, I'm now having a 'trophy of adulthood' moment. This is why I'll never be an Adult - Hyperbole and a Half More accurately, today I'm like 'walk? 😞 ' Even though I'm not physically wrecked from yesterday's effort.

Hi Everyone, about to get the swimmers on and go to the pool. Very proud of myself given my terrible mood day yesterday. Did walk about 1 km yesterday despite the awfuls. Also walked 1 km Saturday.
Nice thing, on the walk on Saturday - I had before my partner and I left packed a bag with my Library returns - books and DVDs. I accidently left it at home. Plan was my partner would stop as we walked at a bakery and get our weekend little somethings, then walk home, while I walked on with the doggits. We did that and when partner got home and saw the library bag, jumped in the car and brought the bag to me - what a thoughtful thing to do!
Hope everyone has a wonderful week of yoga, walking, functional exercise and goal setting.
PS: Remember I said a month or so ago that if I had done all my exercise I would reward myself? I have NOT been as consistent as I had first hoped, but getting into the pool was a huge milestone so I did reward myself yesterday by buying a new frock online (who still says frock? haha ).
"Keep Starting"...

@MoonGal, so glad to hear your goals and effort in moving through initial discomfort have already led to this success with walking and swimming. My impression is that you were not doing much of either before starting this discussion thread so, from my point of view, that is quick action and pay off. Way to go!
Frock is a funny old word! What does it look like, fabric, etc? I've been buying suitable clothing (some second hand) for my new volunteering job just lately. Best investment was the shoes I bought especially for it. They have 'memory foam' in them to help with being on my troubled feet for four hours straight. I reckon they look a bit groovy as well (is that an ancient word too?)
Will be jumping in the shower when I finish this post to get ready for second shift at the shop today. Still nervous but not as bad as last week, hoping the emotional aftermath with be less intense too. That will be about five hours of functional exercise, walking to and from buses and a bit of walking and squatting in the shop itself. Not to mention the mental and emotional workout.
Walks on the beach have continued here yesterday (about 1.5 kms) and Friday (about the same). Not managing much other exercise at the moment but steady as she goes on the walking and I am extending the envelope and fitness there. Yay again for you @MoonGal, and for us all.
