@TAB it is so hard to get decent GP who will sit and listen to you and not try to rush you out the door. When I moved, I originally found a good one, and then he left and referred me to another doctor in the clinic. At one stage while seeing this new GP, I started to feel that my antidepressants were no longer working. I asked the chemist if they had switched me to the cheaper brand, as they don't seem to work for me. The chemist replied that my normal medication is no longer being made, so they gave me the closest substitute. I told my doctor that, and he didn't believe me.
So I went home and did some research and found the site that stated the medication is no longer being made, and I sent him an email with all the details. Not long after that. I found another GP. And this one is great. And she gets really concerned for me at times. Which is nice to know, that your GP actually cares.
Most medication for mental illness seems to put on weight. What's with that? It's not as if we need something else to worry about. And it is a metabolic side effect, which I think that a lifestyle change won't help.
But my surgeon does want me to go on a low calorie diet with the shakes to start with, as then it will ease my swallowing issues. I already have a box of shakes ready to go.

@TAB I hope your feeling a bit better today 😊
This is exactly how my back is, but looking at what they offer, it sounds great, but I have a feeling it is going to be way out of my price range.
https://www.kieser.com.au/training/the-kieser-method.
When I spoke to them, they don't discount for concession card holders and each session with the Physio, Exercise Physiologist or Exercise/Health Scientist costs $127.50 per session. I am assuming that when you do your workout twice a week, that this would be a different cost. I must find out before I get my new Health Care Plan done.
I think more research needs to be done to find what other places I could use. Actually the physio I used last year has exercise equipment for strength building, so I think I will contact them to get some prices as well.
I truly hope today is a better day for you 🤗

I would look at other options @Mustang67 Seems a bit like me and wanting 'silver bullet' for my health . While the answer is to get a plan and be consistent.
I should probs do the same , but a little bit of walking can go a long way, also swimming, bike even. There's plenty of info in the internet.
Meanwhile I keep doing what I shouldnt and not doing what I should.
Yes, the thing you mention might be the answer, but not if its not in you ballpark
Another thing I have let go is regular massage. I've not done weights in a while either.
Yes, I have diagnosed conditions and specific things that are making exercise difficult, but physio seeing atm seems to have gone to dift school. some are miracle workers and some just seem to hit and hope. Have to make to with what's at hand while looking for better input. I could at least start doing old exercises from other physios instead of hoping this one will work my problem out, because been there like 4x now, once was brilliant, the rest so/so .and I'm not doing the work, so its all a bit de-motivating and I stopped going to them, going to gym, going for dedicated walks. then took it to next level wsleeping half the day and removing my only social contact, ie going to shops ha ha ending up in sorry state like last night
what about a Pilates class? or one of those stretchy things stick to the wall. I've got one buried in this house somewhere lol
Anyway Good Luck.

@TAB I remember seeing the Physiotherapist back in July last year, I went 3 times and she had me doing exercises at home and then my birthday hit, which is a big trigger for me. So stopped going while I shut the world out for a good couple of weeks.
And I have the anniversary of my partner's death coming up on the 30th, so no good, starting anything until after that and any repercussions have past.
If I really put my mind to it, I too could have been doing the exercises the physio showed me last year. But the motivation is not there.
Maybe now that I am getting my oesophagus stretched and hopefully I will be able to eat normally without the fear of my food getting stuck, I can use that as the first part of starting to look after my body and do what it needs to function without constant pain.
I would really like to one day, take my daughter out for a meal and be able to walk to the restaurant without being in agony. I can't remember the last time we went somewhere, when I didn't have to quickly find somewhere to sit, to stop the spasams in my back.
My back is very painful still, from the extra walking around I did on Wednesday & Thursday. As soon as I weight bear the spasams start. So it will be another day in bed for me today.
I got some costs from the Kieser Physiotherapist and they want $60 a week once I start using their exercise equipment. A gym membership wouldn't cost that much. I am sure if I went to a gym and told them my issues, they could give me an exercise plan to help strengthen my back and stomach and it wouldn't cost $60 a week.

Due to my back going into spasams as soon as I weight bear, I will be watching the V8 Supercars on my phone while resting my back in bed today. So resting is going to be the only achievement I can manage today 😌
Is anyone else interested in the V8 Supercars?

@Mustang67 I was into it when it was more Ford vs Holden. It just doesn't seem the same anymore.
Sorry to hear about your back today. Rest up and hopefully you'll be up and moving around soon.
