Re: Daily Achievements!

no probs @Mustang67  think mine has at least that re extra

Re: Daily Achievements!

As far as daily achievements go, I have printed out all my financial documents for my Wyatt grant appointment tomorrow.

I have updated my coin spreadsheet with a few little purchases made last week as well as added some more of my coins to the online database to keep track of exactly what I have purchased with the official information etc.

I have helped my mum out with her finances and made a few suggestions.  My poor mum, dad used to do all the banking and bill payments. So since dad's passing I have been doing it for her. My sister is her carer, but she uses mum's money, which I am not happy about. I have suggested to mum to get a new debit card and don't give the number to my sister. But she doesn't like change. So what do you do.

I am also going to compare her household insurance, electricity & gas as well as her home internet to see if I can get her a better deal.

So I haven't done much really, but it is keeping my mind busy.

Re: Daily Achievements!

Look at you go @Glisten. Well done 🍹

I used to love being outside helping my partner build retaining walls, installing ponds and generally doing stuff that gets your hands dirty.

Re: Daily Achievements!

@TAB It sounds like you are a jack-of-all-trades. A very handy person to have around.

I remember when building this retaining wall, we were about 3 bricks high with the drainage pipe and stones at the bottom of the wall, and I said to my partner at the time that we should back fill the wall with soil before putting another row of bricks on. He didn't agree and went ahead and added another row. I went inside for something and when I returned 3/4 of the wall had clasped. I just laughed and let him pick up all the bricks that needed to be redone.

..one of my many jobs/careers in jokingly called 'Renaissance Man ' work life  @Mustang67

did trade after that and went to mines , did uni degree b4 mines, worked in foundries, fish factories , labouring , builders labourer, brickies labourer,  for worst bosses imaginable ok after public service clerk and Army lol

Re: Daily Achievements!

@TAB Wow, you have done so much. I worked for lawyers since that age of 19 up until I was 48. Started off in the accounts section doing data entry of the lawyers timesheets. And then they decided that the payroll lady needed a back up person, so that was me. By the time I left that firm 15 years later, I did the payroll, accounts receivable and payable, managed the trust account and reconciled all the partners AMEX and Credit Cards. But I really enjoy that sort of work. My last employers were PIGS, so if I ever get to the point that I am reliable enough to work without having anxiety or suffering from depression every month, I will not work for lawyers again. They pay you well, but they expect too much from you and it digs into your personal time that should be spent with your family.

My 15 year old daughter is at the stage where they are trying to decide what career path she wants to take. So far her choices have been a Deep Sea Fisherman, a Truck Driver and a Brickie. She said that she wants to be able to have fun at work.

I was thinking that maybe if she gets into the mines driving the trucks. A friend in Cairns did that, and was told they prefer female drivers as they are more gentle on the trucks. Do you know where would I go to look at career opportunities in the mines? I just want somewhere to direct her, so she can have a look and see what she thinks.

Re: Daily Achievements!

well I aint rich  etc re my 'career path' had some good moments, as well as lots bad and worse.

BHP hire women over men and have training programs. no experience required.

re truck/operator jobs

try bigger companies, mid tier and lower are stone age re how they treat people re mines

depends how serious you /daughter are re mines. hunter valley is free for all , same in Qld, also WA  lots mines in SA too. no one advertises jobs. go to their sites. or try mines services etc to get foot in door, but makes them look good to employ young females , so thing prob pretty easy to get work with no quals . @Mustang67
