When feeling weighed down by guilt, there is a little ritual I now do to help with self-forgiveness. It came to me from someone else.
Put your hand over your heart and say, 'I forgive you'. Say it out loud if possible, so that you hear a voice of forgiveness. If that's not possible (depending where you are and if you are alone), say it in your mind.
Discard any thoughts that might question whether you really do or don't forgive yourself. Just say the words, absorb it for a moment. Then forget about it and go on with the day or night.
Over the past 9 months or so, this ritual has helped relieve my tendency to beat up on myself.
It may work for others too.

This Coping Box thread is Great.
I don't have anything to add to it at this stage.
I've had a Coping Box for several years - a Toolbox the Psychologists seem to call it.
I have lots of things in it, but nothing in it helps...
So I definitely have to find some new things & techniques that do work (help)...

@outlander
Ruby is a BullTerrier/Boxer, as far as I know no Labrador?
She was only 3 weeks old & abandoned by the man that took her from the Boxer mum. He realised that she was a female & not male when she was 4 weeks old, & did not want her. His young daughter who befriended me, was so upset & crying brought her to me, & asked me, would I take her, & I was going to find her a wonderful home. I did that for sure, >ME< she just captured my heart. My favorite gem is the Ruby, that how she got her name, my Ruby!
Since them the children in my neighbourhood have named so many animals Ruby, its become the in name around here, & they all Love Ruby, & visa versa.
I think the real life story will go into my, Coping Box, to read, & to think about, when I think negative, hey! 😉
Love U!
Bella & Ruby! XXOO 🙂
