Hi @Shaz51, is MrShaz's SAD due to weather? Or another trigger... ? Sometimes us melancholy types walk so close to the edge it doesnt take much to trip us into the ditch. Dont forget to tell h when you need a hug ❤
Hi @Owlunar, coming back to you ❤
Hi @Former-Member welcome to aussie sane forums, and the SAD thread, how's your day? No doubt you would understand living in the northern hemesphere brrr 💦💨😱 Thats good advise, a sunlamp - wonder which sunray it is the fights off SAD, (probably ultraviolet?) Do you know @Adge? @Former-Member? Op shops often have IRR lamps for sale. I look fwd to chatting with someone from another country.
I always become low in energy May to August, probably more due to past winter trauma (emotional) than a lack of sun (the weather triggers memories which make me sad), But its not always registering cognitively, just get so sad & flat... @Adge knows what i mean. ❤

Seasonal affective disorder (SAD)
SAD is a mood disorder that has a seasonal pattern. The cause is unclear, but may be related to the variation in light exposure in different seasons. SAD is characterised by mood disturbances (either periods of depression or mania) that begin and end in a particular season. Depression in winter only is the most common way in which people experience SAD.
SAD is usually diagnosed after the person has had the same symptoms during winter for two or more years. People with SAD are more likely to experience lack of energy, sleep too much, overeat, gain weight and crave carbohydrates. SAD is rare in Australia, and more likely to be found in countries with short days and longer periods of darkness, such as the cold climate in the Northern Hemisphere.

Welcome to the Forum Family @Former-Member
I can imagine how gloomy it can be in the NW United States - I guess you get snow with all the muck and slush and stuff - snow can be so pretty when the sun shines but just a few days of it can make me feel really tired of the monochromatic view - I had three solid days of snow on holidays once and I was so glad to drive out of the mountains into the sun
I live in Melbourne and we get spells of gloomy days in late Autumn and early winter - it seems to get better with the winter solstice when the wind seems to blow the ice out of the air
Okay @Shaz51 - I can just about hear Mr Shaz feeling down about the weather - he is in the club and you too - and @Former-Member - thanks for the pics - I really like the one with the snow family - not going to say why - that would be giving away too much of my sense of humour
So the bleakness is really starting to rot my socks - joining in the fun - [not] - just thinking that one more gloomy day passing is one more gloomy day past - I do not like counting blessings - just like to work my ways past all of it
Sending hugs though and I might try and find a snow man joke myself before I go out
