Maybe

Maybe...

We can't fix our mental health but we can improve our physical health?

We can't fix our mental health but we can improve our self expression?

We can't fix our mental health but we can learn to dance?

We can't fix our mental health but we can enjoy cooking and washing up?

We can't fix our mental health but we can improve our communication and storytelling?

Maybe our mental health will get better if we become stronger and wiser and more resilient in other areas first?

Re: Maybe

Maybe we can slowly rebuild and renew with support of our peers..you alone can do it but you can't do it alone..
Mental health can't be taught, it is learned together..

Re: Maybe

Maybe we're not so much disfunctional as more sensitive than "normal" folk.

Maybe we have something different to offer the world.

Maybe we grow skills in unusual areas because we have to in order to survive.

Maybe we've become more compassionate as a result of surviving with MI.

Maybe having a MI can eventually become as much a gift as it has felt like a curse.

Maybe one day soon we will be valued for our perspectives.

Re: Maybe

I just lost everything I wrote.

I wi;; start again.

The concise version this time.

Chmocro, Allesandra and Kristin,

It must be worthwhile.

That is enough.

It must be worth while.

We are hung from a tree of poisoned fruit. Yet it must be worthwhile.

If we can take this poisoned fruit and make some good happen because of it

It has to be then wothwhile.

I will never get better. I'm mostly untreatable. The condition is too complex and to formative to improve.

I hate this. I despise myself and no little of joy or happiness. I do not know what these feel like.

But if I might do good because of what I know, and feel and understand

Then I will accept it is worth while.

What you do here on this forum makes it worthwhile.

If you work in the MH sector then it is worthwhile. If you are able to love in spite of that poison fruit.

Then by all that is righteous, it is worthwhile!

For this reason alone

Hope endures

Re: Maybe

Hey @Rick, there are so many posts going on thus forum I can't keep up..I think you have spoken of love, the love you have for your daughter..so perhaps the tree has been grafted with something beautiful?
And did I read that you worked with young people? I work with young people and its largely because I enjoy watching young people rewrite their futures..
How did you enjoy working with young people?

I find that hope endures because people are inspiring me with their tenacity, their bravery, endurance and vulnerability.. That we are all in this community together, that we are making a difference..
Hope endures...
