@Spartacus1 I was diagnosed with BP about 5 years ago in my late 50's after a traumatic incident and after a long period of wilder and wilder mood swings. I was prescribed many drugs, none of which seem to have worked except the antipsychotics. They made me feel slow and fuzzy. Before my partner left me I successfully weened myself of all prescribed drugs and felt a lot better. When my partner left I fell apart and was happy to go back on the medication to numb the pain. Now my moods seem to change more quickly and when I change moods I can't remember how I felt in the other mood. I think exercise in nature, exposing myself to sunlight and meditation are powerful tools, but they are hard to do when I'm low.
What tools help you in control of mood swings?

I have thought this too. Only just found this thread. I’ve had a bunch of them for it. Some I didn’t like.

@Doog @greenpea @ I've been on mood stabilisers, anti psychotically, anti depressants, for over twenty years. I still go through the mill most days. I've recently started taking drugs to reduce impulsive behaviours. Didn't stop me having an alcohol fuelled episode that landed me with an assault charge that I don't remember doing because I blacked out. My life is shit atm.

Hey @Spartacus1 ,
I'm sorry to hear things are so hard for you at the moment. Do you think the medication has helped at all?
In the past, I was taking mood stabilizers for over 10 years. Then one day, during an ED visit, they pretty much said, "What are you taking these for?" and I haven't taken them since because they actually weren't doing anything.
I am, however, taking anti-depressants and anti-psychotics/anti-anxiety meds which def are helping.
I wonder if a medication review will help you?

Sorry for the shit you're going through @Spartacus1 .I'm a late starter! Today I'm going good. Which probably means tomorrow I'll be agitated and irritable for maybe a couple of days and then return to depression for a week or so then replay. My toolbar just goes out the windows when I need it most. Incidentally I found a thread about tool kits you might want to investigate. I found it very useful. Hang in there.
