Dear @Emelia8
I'm sorry to hear that. I'll cross everything someone is available for you.
He's still keen. I'm the nervous one. Really don't want to risk his health ☹️

Good news! Got a plumber to agree to come out later this morning. Second one I tried, so that was good. This one just happens to be working in the vicinity this morning, and reckons he's a couple of hours away. Will hopefully have hot water again by tonight. Hooray!
Thanks @Eve7 @Peri @outlander @Sans911 @Zoe7
@Anastasia yes I can understand your concern around your Dad being out in large groups. Being on cancer treatment he is very susceptible and vulnerable to anything going around. But as he is keen to go, and of course he would be for his daughters birthday, it would be a shame to deprive him of these moments of pleasure. To still partake in life is important for anyone undergoing treatment. It's very much a risk vs benefit situation ... which I understand very well. 🤔 I hope you all get to go, have a wonderful time, and all without any health consequences for anyone.

Yes HW Maintenance man has been @Zoe7 . Some ants had gotten into the electricals and done some damage. He replaced the element and the thermostat, and says it should now be working fine. All his instruments say it is okay now.
However there appears to be a problem with the power board. Certainly the little whirly thing is not spinning, which indicates nothing is working. No idea if the HW system shorting out could have damaged the power board or if the power board going out could have caused the already damaged (by ants) HW system. Chicken or the egg?
The HW system is on Off Peak power, and everything else is Peak. We have two types of power meters. And the HW being on Off Peak it cannot be switched over to the Peak meter. The Plumber/Electrician says its an Electricity Company problem, and he has put in a report/request for them to come and fix their end. He expected should come sometime today, but we are still waiting.
So we have a HW system which now works, but no power getting to it. 😔 So ... still no hot water.
I actually got the power bill in todays mail and I checked the reading they did a week ago. The off peak meter reading was just one click over what they read last Tuesday. Wondering if they might have turned something off when they read the meter? Dont know. But its very disappointing.
@Anastasia hope your Mum and Dad had better luck with their hot water system?

What a shame @Emelia8
I am sorry to hear. I am guessing now it's a job for another day? Frustrating. Hopefully tomorrow?
Your message prompted me to check on Mum and Dad's...they had better luck and now have hot water again. Mum joked she'll need to get a job so guessing it was expensive. Hugs and hugs 💞🤗💐
