Thank you to the following for your posts to me here over the past 12 days, and my apologies for not responding to any of you in all that time. I had a bit of a break after my latest post and then I havent really felt like updating anyone. But I have been reading your messages, and very much appreciate your love and encouragement via your posts.

Today marks the 5 year anniversary of the tragic death of my dear little 11yo niece Emma in a freak car accident, on a country road on a freezing cold afternoon in gale force winds. A fallen limb from an overhanging tree, a car running off the road, low speed sideswiping of a small sappling tree ... and Emma was no more. The weather on that day 5 years ago was similar to what it is there today. And coincidentally it was a Saturday that year too, my brother returning from a neighbouring farm after doing some work for them, with Em as his little helper for the day. She loved to go with her doting Dad. Her dad was her hero, and she was his. Not a day goes by that I dont think of you Em. Not a day goes by that I dont wish I could pick up the phone and talk to you, as we always used to. Not a day goes by that I dont curse fate.
Here is a poem I wrote for Emma a year after she died. I think this may be somewhat poignant for some members here, who have recently (or not so recently) lost a loved one. Perhaps you will gain some peace from these words. I hope so.

A poem for Emma
She is gone,
yet she is everywhere.
A young girl runs past,
I cannot help but stare.
And in my mind,
I see her sweet smile,
Her face, her laugh,
Just for a little while.
The clocks all froze,
No time has passed.
Features saved forever,
in her looking glass.
She will not age,
In her heart, nor mine.
Her beauty caught forever,
In that place and time.
On magic days,
She's with me still.
Caught on film,
Framed, yet it feels so real.
As if I could call her,
and she'd still be there.
We'd talk of school her friends and family,
And her latest sporting triumphs to share.
I close my eyes,
I feel her embrace.
Hear laughter in her smile,
See joy upon her face.
She lives within our hearts,
She dances in my soul.
Forever young and happy,
She will never be old.
She'll forever be jumping puddles,
and dancing in the rain.
Riding her much loved pony,
And never knowing pain.
And in my heart, I know,
Please don't ask me how.
Our beautiful little girl .....
She runs with angels now.
