@Emelia8 I'm sorry to hear your news. Thanks for describing the surgeries...wow, they sound major.
I am so proud of you for letting the past traumas surface in preparation for the EMDR therapy. I know it's distressing...but it's the first step on the road to healing some of them. I know trauma is often so deep that it can't be healed fully, but I think some healing can be achieved.
Am sending wishes for your healing (back and thraumas) as well as your sleep... 💜

Thanks @Linette 💕 Yes still standing ... just! Thanks so much for your kind message of support, I very much appreciate it. I believe you are commenting on my opening post, as opposed to more recent happenings?
I note that you are new, and do not appear to have introduced yourself anywhere as yet. So I'm wondering what has drawn you to this thread. Do you also have a trauma background?
I am very happy for you to continue to talk here if you are comfortable to do so. However it would probably be more beneficial for you to open a thread of your own. That way you will obtain specific advice and support relevant to your own needs. If you need help in opening a thread, just let us know.
Having said that, you are very welcome to post (write) on any thread anywhere on the forums. You will find members very welcoming, helpful and friendly. I hope to see you again soon, either here or elsewhere on the forums. Again ... thank you, and welcome to the SANE forums. 🌸

Difficult day today after a very triggering psych session this morning. Been doing some more preliminary work for EMDR therapy, working on mapping this time. I'd almost forgotten there were so many trauma's in my life. But she said she needed to know, so she can work on the incidents which are holding me back and causing my life to be less than it should be.
She also said that it is not a coincidence that I have just spent 2 spells in the MH ward of 3+ weeks each, after my surgery in February. Apparently anaesthetic targets a part of the brain that is also affected by trauma. And that is why she is so keen to get me through this EMDR therapy prior to my next scheduled surgeries, in the hope that I am better prepared next time around. Hence why I'm regularly having twice weekly sessions at present - Saturdays face to face and mid week via video conferencing. Its been really hard, which is why I am not around here as much as I otherwise might be.

Good to hear from you at all with all the stuff going on in last few years. Standing, sitting or laying down!
Hello @Linette @NatureLover @Former-Member @Faith-and-Hope @Zoe7
Sounds as if your psych is trying for an integrated approach and taking physical things into account. Doing trauma is not for sissies or the faint hearted.
Keep us in the loop as much as you can.
Not much to say but my old sign off ....and a few pics
