Re: The Art of Reframing - Back by popular demand!
Welcome, @Salc ! I think it's often the other person who can't or won't deal with our needs. So when we stick up for ourselves they don't like it and lash out, to keep us down. Does that help?
As for reframing: "I can't manage the house."
Reframe: "I can learn how to manage the house, bit by bit."

What is the art of reframing @NatureLover?. What needs can it help us get met? Can it help with chronic loneliness?

Re: The Art of Reframing - Back by popular demand!
@Abner ,
For me, I think reframing helped me with chronic loneliness and the hurt that comes with it.
I found that reframing helped me understand things from a different perspective that would be helpful for me. I may not have been able to prove that the alternative perspective was true about someone else, but it helped me feel better to know that there is more one perspective to things.
Thought: That person hates me that's why they haven't called me
Reframe: That person is busy at the moment. They might call back later.
By reframing, it can balance out potential self-criticism and self-hatred. However, of course everything needs balance. It can also be detrimental if someone always considers the alternative perspective and never really accepts self-reflection.
I hope I'm making sense.

thought -
my friendship is over with x and i'll never get it back
reframing
there is tension in the relationship which might be useful to work through and help us learn about each other. if not, i tried my best.

Re: The Art of Reframing - Back by popular demand!
Hi @tyme
Hope you are well. That sounds like a good technique
‘ My dreams will never come true’
‘ I feel like my dreams will never come true, but that might not be the case’
‘ she doesn’t have feelings for me’
’ there is evidence to suggest she may have feelings for me’
’Nothing will work out’
’ nothing will work out’
’ I feel nothing will work out, but if I work on myself then they might
’

Hi @Abner , I see @tyme has answered your question...
My gut feeling was that it can help with loneliness, but I wasn't sure how to answer. Thanks, @tyme ! 🙂
