Re: self care -- Food, Salt , Sugar , Water
It doesn’t change anything, other than knowing why it’s not shifting in any sort of hurry ..... just important to understand that more extreme diet and exercise exacerbates it instead of shifting it. Learned that the hard way .....
Moderation is the key. When the body is in a healthy zone, including stress management, the weight starts to slowly ease off again.

I have not suffered from any sporting injuries and do not plan on taking anything up and putting myself at risk.

Re: self care -- Food, Salt , Sugar , Water
I walk a lot now, but don’t stress myself to do it, and don’t set any targets. I eat healthy meals in moderate servings, and this combination, along with slathering in the self-care is the only thing that has worked ..... and very slowly ...... but all my health tests and blood profiles are coming back with no issue at all, so I am happy about that part.
The rest will take the time that it takes, I am doing all the right things, I keep being told ..... so patience is my key ......
And I get very puffed going up hills ......
Do you enjoy walking the dogs ?

I don't enjoy walking the dogs, Mr D takes them out, am happy to walk to get from a to b, but am very unfit.
Self care went out the window when Mr D became acutely unwell. Only just starting to take care of myself more.

Re: self care -- Food, Salt , Sugar , Water
I can’t jog now @Former-Member ....the continued weight gain took me into a zone where I am likely to damage my knees, which are already complaining, especially on hills and stairs .... and met.bol.synd fat stores are metabolically active, newer research has shown, which makes it weigh much heavy than you would expect, so I am far heavier than I look, and I look big.
You encountered a far more acute situation to the one we have @Former-Member, and my self care had gone out the window with the level of chaos and damage control we were faced with. I am not at all surprised you haven’t been able to focus much attention on your own well-being. It wasn’t until panic attacks began to occur for me that I realised I was crossing a line. I believe the health issues that surfaced a couple of months ago now were another warning, and while they have diminished, they are still present, continuing to warn.
I pt is so good to hear that you are getting into the garden, I swear there is something healing in damp earth .....
I don’t particularly enjoy walking our dog either, but I felt sorry for him being purchased, and then not walked by mr, cos he lost patience for the dog, and in walking him I have grown an endearment for him, despite not being a dog-lover per se. He has taught me to appreciate dogs, and I talk to other people’s dogs in the street now ..... thankfully my family haven’t had me committed for that .....
Food is one of my primary self-care vehicles now. I focus very much on the nurturing aspect of what I put into my mouth, as far as I am able to. And I walk to listen to music.

We are watching what we eat, having plenty of veg, fruit for dessert.
Speaking of eating, went out for a group tea at pub last night ... we now qualify for seniors meal ... old and fat ... yikes.

@Shaz51 how are you going with your recipe adjustments.
@Bella1978 listened to a talk that mentioned how much we need to fight for our health ... resistance can be difficult.
Out and about today but thinking of trying a new recipe tonight.
