Hey @Dimity ,
Not sure of the state you reside, but have you heard of the Life! program?
It's government funded and spans over 12 months (if I remember correctly). You meet with a dietician in a group environment (online, or f2f).
Looks into making healthier lifestyle changes to prevent heart disease, diabetes etc.
Here's the link:

This program is free of charge.

I have a question to ask ???
I have concerns that my mum would not be able to cope now while I am away working for up to 6 hours away from home
And to ask the doctor and the OT for support and added help to assist her at home while I am working or keeping her in hospital until she can cope

Dear @Shaz51 ,
I don't know much, but speaking from experience, this is the perfect time to push for all the support you can get for her.
Before discharging, perhaps you can request an OT etc to come and see the property to determine whether she will be safe at home. I'm not sure where social workers come into this. You can only ask. From there, I hope you will be able to receive more respite than what you are receiving.
This is your opportunity to make that cry that you DO need help for her. You deserve the help and it's okay to ask.
All the best,
tyme

Hi @Shaz51
Have you thought about something like vitalcall? It is a lenyard that has a button on it, if she has a fall or needs help, if she presses it it will call 3 numbers of your choice and an operator will stay on the phone with her until someone arrives.
It is a great system.
There are other systems out there too.
I hope this helps
Hugs

Monday is prob too soon @Shaz51
she must be in terrible pain with the fractured pelvis. How is she going to move around? And you’ll be so worried and stressed while working it’s not fair on you either.
you know I remember a previous psychiatrist told me that by not putting my MIL in care I was denying her the help and support she can have.
I’ve never forgotten his words to me and he was right. I couldn’t do everything for her.
but this was me. I’m not telling you what to do.
but I understand how difficult this is for you.
