Re: Focussing on the positives-

@Determined it is me being a huge sticky beak but it would be lovely to hear if memory was relatively intact. ECT really worked for Mr Darcy the first time. Problems continued to occur as his Dx was not established and he was given meds that did not help.

Re: Focussing on the positives-

Hi @Former-Member not being a sticky beak at all and more than happy to answer,

I have not had a chance to quiz on specific long term memories as yet. Planing to find a way to gently test the waters after my exam next week. Improvements in personality this last couple of days hopefully will aid in this process.

Short term working memory is a constant source of amusement to the children and a concern for me, that is possibly improving? Just have to wait and see.

I don't know how much difference it makes but her treatment was stopped after only 5 treatments (she thinks she had 3) due to negative side affects. (Dizzy, confused, disoriented). Now they are saying that was only withdrawal from meds causing all that even though those symptoms are why the treatment was stopped. (I wont get started on my view of changing stories in this reply... ).

Specific memories around bub seem to be intact which is a huge relief as that was one of my biggest concerns. Re bub at a peadiatric appointment this week she remembered points from our last consult 6 months ago that I had fogotten. (These were things she has been anxious about). Again though I will be looking for an opportunity to check some memories after Tuesday's exam.

There were a couple of memory losses (during treatment) that came up in general discussion that alarmed me (as in I was not looking but was taken by supprise when they were revealed). One of those was a massive bike stack around 12 months ago  that resulted in an ambulance attendance. (She came off on a loose patch doing over 70 km/hr). No significant injuries thankfully but not something you would expect to forget but she seemed to be clueless about it.

On the positive side the treatment does seem to have lifted the overwhelming depression and the self harm thoughts and plans have stopped as far as I know. Initally that came at the cost of being totaly emotionaly void, that seems to be improving only in the last 3 days or so.

Re: Focussing on the positives-

Positive for today

With the help of some cold and flu meds got a bit of study done today 😊  still a lot to do between now and Tuesday but got more done today than in the last 3 days combined. (Bit chilled and aching again tonight but a good sleep should aid that)

Something to be grateful for

My darlings mood from yesterday has carried over and she is again happy and seems to be coping ok and more aware of her surroundings. This is something we have not seen in a while. Loving the current smiles (also absent for a long time). I am most grateful for her helpfulness at a time when I need to focus on my university studies for an upcoming exam. (I was expecting far less when she came home from hospital early)

Re: Focussing on the positives-

@Determined

That is good news about the depression lifting Bro and that she remembered bub stuff. Your Darling might remember bike incident again as during treatment is not the best time.

Won't hold you up with your study, but take care Bro, will catch up after Tuesday.

Re: Focussing on the positives-

Thanks @Former-Member

Yes it is great news about the depression.

Understand during treatment not a good time re memories so over the inital panic. Will be doing some covert investigation in coming weeks, will let you know how it goes. I think it will be a case of wait and see. Most positive though is memories around bub and older boys. That was my biggest fear going in.

Study done for today, trying for an early night hopefully a good sleep and back into it tomorrow.

Trust all is well as can be for you and Mr Darcy.

Re: Focussing on the positives-

Hope you're feeling much better again today @Determined. Balance family time with study time and nail that exam come Tuesday.

Re: Focussing on the positives-

Something to be grateful for

While cracks are showing already my darling managed to hold it together today. Took herself out for a bike ride after lunch for some self care and burn off some of the anxiety. (Limited success)   Went for a walk with me for my afternoon walk afterwards which went well.

Re: Focussing on the positives-

Hey @Determined
Exam tomorrow ... can I gently suggest that you have a plan in place so you have a positive experience rather than getting rattled if the expected phone call comes.
