Re: Caring for a wife with Borderline Personality Disorder- Sequel to Diary of wife’s hospital stay - holding it together for our family.

I have been so hard on our poor boys this afternoon, they have been so needy and I just have not coped with it at all . Lots of hugs and sorrys but I just need to breathe.

I must admit that I ignored a few of the calls and texts so there is room for some duplicates in there lol

You could use some hugs yourself at the moment @Faith-and-Hope

Perhaps a group hug @Faith-and-Hope @soul @Shaz51  @Former-Member

Now when you have doubts @Determined - remember that last sentence - "when she is well enough and safe enough to be at home"

She came home prematurely last time and that didn't turn out that well. You certainly don't want to be going through that again and then a return to hospital in another short while.

No matter how hard she pleads, you need to remain strong. Sometimes we have to be "cruel" to be kind.

Unfortunately these decisions are made withiut me @soul, its not like I can refuse to bring her home after she has been discharged. I think even the weekend leave is a stupid idea considering the reasons she was admitted.

I have told her gently but firmly if there is any hint of anxiety or distress she is going straight back no questions asked. Feel mean and nasty but there are 4 other people in this family that I need to look out for over and above wanting to keep my darling safe and well.

Speaking with one of my lecturers this afternoon, he was extremely understanding, turns out he lost his farther at a young age to mental illness.

The other lecturer lecturer has an ex wife who lives with mental illnes so also expressed and understanding and appreciation for some of my challanges,

Both very supportive of assisting me to continue in my studies and see dropping out as counter productive to my wellbeing so willing to support me where necessary to continue as planned.  Wow, I was reluctant to give any detail as I feel like I am making excuses for poor performance and the response has been overwhelmingly positive.

Great that you are among people who can empathise @Determined. That makes all the difference. It must make you feel inspired to do your best.

Don't feel as if you are making excuses. You have a legitimate reason and against all the odds, you are achieving really good grades. Nice that at least that part of your life is rewarding.
