Re: Caring for Someone Living with Dementia

Aw, I love a good laugh and I'm so pleased to hear you and your mum can share that together. Those little moments are really special Smiley Happy

Re: Caring for Someone Living with Dementia

Hi @Shaz51, I've just caught up with this thread. I hope you're having a better few days with you mum, it sounds like maybe this morning is off to an okay start?

Re: Caring for Someone Living with Dementia

omg patience - yes that was very hard for my hubby towards his mum

@Shaz51 xx

Re: Caring for Someone Living with Dementia

yes totally agree @BlueBay

patience, my aunty get cranky with her sister ( my mum )

I am ok most of the time , but upset me when she says things to me

i try to remember it is the dementai talking not her , but it is soo hard

and it upsets mr shaz to see me upset

Re: Caring for Someone Living with Dementia

I think the biggest thing @BlueBay , @Former-Member

is when they say the unexpected things you are off so surprised that i dont know how to respond

Re: Caring for Someone Living with Dementia

Oh I can empathise with that one, @Shaz51. Many a time my loved one will say some quite cutting/surprising, and you do not want to be standing in line for those! I try to remember that this is her brain misfiring, it isn't her, and that really helps to take the sting out/not personalise it.

Hugs to you and your mum, @Shaz51. Did you manage to have a nice Xmas?

Re: Caring for Someone Living with Dementia

yes @Former-Member

Step D1 and SIL came in the morning

had christmas morning tea with mum

it was nice christmas lunch at my cousins

mum did not come as she finds the steps too hard and there were too many

soo you can imagine what we came home to Smiley Sad

but then i found the real reason behind it as she was in lots of pain ( she has reoccuring bowel obstructions and she had broken her hip a few years ago )  but would not go to the hospital

she know what to do and it should be better by morning

Re: Caring for Someone Living with Dementia

Oh no, the poor thing, and hugs to you for supporting her through that @Shaz51 💚
