@Former-Member I often direct people to www.meetup.com It is like an online bulletin board where people advertise different types of catchups in your local community. You can find music groups, sporting groups, craft groups, social groups, 'getting to know you' groups, groups aimed at learning or practicing particular skills - the list goes on!

@Former-Member I love your point about the Goo Goo Dolls song! Music so often reminds us of particular memories, or feelings. This is why it can be so powerful to use in therapy, but also just in our own lives.

Great 🙂 I have another question @LM_Bee.
It sounds like there are lots of different ways of practicing music therapy and I understand it is research-based and has had clinical trials. What are some of the documented outcomes?

Re: Topic Tuesday // 19 Jan, 7pm AEDT // Music Therapy
Just adding to my last post --
It is important to note that in the area of mental health, music therapy is usually an adjunct to standard care. So it works best in collaboration with other supports.

Good question @Jacques! To find out more about music therapy in Australia, head to the Australian Music Therapy Association website - www.austmta.org.au/
This website should be able to direct you to other resources and links to find out more about music therapy.
