@greenspace I love that idea!
It sounds like everyone has developed some good coping strategies, which is great to hear and to read through them all.
I'm hearing that there are many people that have been experiencing mistrust in others, which is common after trauma. What sorts of things have you found helpful in learning to trust others again?

Hi, I have found that seeing a Clinical Psychologist has helped me over the years. I have often found the support I have needed through Womens Health Centres, Kinway etc. I originally started because of the relationships i was in became like the original trauma. So, it seemed working on that problem relationship in the present I was having, helped relieve the other stresses. Then getting help understanding my current situation helped by linking me to good doctor for depression issues, medication etc and helping me to move through triggering situations and out of those relationships.@1stepup

You paint it so well, @greenspace !
I've lost a few now-missed mugs that way, and my local supermarket often serves as my own Big Day Out. My preferred therapy, though, is a long shower (apologies to the water restrictions, but it's medicinal!) with the water focussed on the base of the back of my neck. Brings me back to myself. (And then I usually cry.)

I use the Smiling Mind website / app. The focus is mindulness meditation. They are short, guideded mindfulness meditation activities (perfect for someone like me who can't be 'still' for very long).
It's an Australian app 🙂

@Former-Member that'd be great if you could look for me. Thank you! Not sure if I should advocate but Helen Cushing from Ganges Yoga has a good yoga nidra and just published a book for war veterans with PTSD that has been internationally recognised. Google it and you'll find a documentary too. She's Australian. I'd like to find some alternatives though. A bit of variety is helpful. Dr Russ Harris is also good but I find mindfulness is sometimes aggravating my depression and anxiety.

@Former-Member i understand the butting heads with therapists i do the same with mine over just about everything one of them being letting people believe they know best and just agreeing with them though the biggest issue is meds i start them but then i can stand the side effects so i stop

There are some PTSD CDs for meditation. I can't look for the info as my laptop is doing the very slow startup to install a new update sorry. When it opens I will have a look in case it is of any good to anyone.
