Re: Topic Tuesday // BPD Awareness featuring SPECTRUM VIC // Tues 1 Oct, 7pm AEST

"We don’t think anyone should have to fear or feel shame towards the diagnosis, but if our clients prefer not to identify with it then we’re happy to work together without using that terminology." Absolutely love this viewpoint, thank you ❤️❤️❤️ @AndrewSpectrum

Re: Topic Tuesday // BPD Awareness featuring SPECTRUM VIC // Tues 1 Oct, 7pm AEST

The trust I had with my GP and professionals has quickly diminished this week. I feel lost with it all to be honest

Re: Topic Tuesday // BPD Awareness featuring SPECTRUM VIC // Tues 1 Oct, 7pm AEST

Like the hard life syndrome name

Re: Topic Tuesday // BPD Awareness featuring SPECTRUM VIC // Tues 1 Oct, 7pm AEST

Sorry to hear this @Fracturedlight A few of our members can definitely relate to that feeling. There are really genuinely engaged and caring practitioners out there, don't give up hope - you are worthy of support Heart

@AndrewSpectrum

Im embarrassed and ashamed to tell people I have BPD.

I just don’t tell them. I leave it out.

Re: Topic Tuesday // BPD Awareness featuring SPECTRUM VIC // Tues 1 Oct, 7pm AEST

@roses1 Yes, personality disorder often has unhelpful connotations, like 'flawed personality.' I've also found that, for some, complex ptsd doesn't resonate as they can't always identify with a 'trauma' having occurred.

@BlueBay Thank you for being so honest and real about this. The shame is common, but so very misplaced. BPD comes with some wonderful skills and traits, high levels of empathy and compassion, the ability to truly hear people, a really broad emotional bandwidth Heart There's no judgement or shame here with us @BlueBay  🙂 Thank you for sharing this.

@JulianSpectrum  your last comment resonates for my wife.

(I support my wife who lives with BPD)

Re: Topic Tuesday // BPD Awareness featuring SPECTRUM VIC // Tues 1 Oct, 7pm AEST

I've found it relieving and validating as I had spent a lot of time trying to distance myself from my emotions and ending up in a kind of permanent state of confusion. I also had had a hard time trying to describe a lot of things that I felt so having some context has helped.

It has also been confronting, but that's more about me coming to terms with my feelings and fears.

@Fracturedlight So sorry to hear this. Trust is something that can be so hard to earn, and can feel devastating to lose.Is it the sort of thing you could bring up with them?
