I really enjoyed the Webinar this evening. I have a lived experience of a mood disorder but my female partner is dealing with her complex trauma. I came looking for ways to knowledge about trauma and ways to support my partner.
I was particularly interested in what Chris said about lifetime counselling in NSW and would be keen to find out where I can find out more information about if similar programs are available in other states and which bodies might be involved in lobbying for this.

Oh and can you explain the royal commission and what they do? Is that just relevant to "Australian cases"?

Thank you for providing webinars like this. So valuable. I'm connected to mental health services as a consumer consultant (no, I don't like the term 'consumer' but it's what we're called) and although our north coast NSW region is embracing Trauma Informed Care training for MH staff I can't access any in-house TIC training sessions because I'm told MH staff are reluctant to have 'consumer' participation in their learning space and I'm told the employer supports that so that their staff will get the most from the training (yes, that's another issue in itself). I'm wondering if there are any online TIC training sessions, to support training of people working in voluntary support and advocacy positions, or if Blueknot for eg. is able/funded to speak at community information sessions - to raise trauma awareness and facilitate people coming forward for trauma support earlier?
😃

Hi @Jadzia
yes i agree it is long time healing process. For me it's been 6 yrs and i am still struggling. but i suppressed it for over 30 yrs before it all came out.
i try to understand why my parents are like this but it is not easy; it is killing me. to be told by mum that i have betrayed the family is so traumatic for me; i just can't get it.
thank you for your comments.

Hi everyone, it looks like some of you were able to watch but others might need to catch it on the link NIk provides. What an amazing panel! There were some great points made that we're going to need to research a little more in the Help Centre. Just two I can think of now are:
- The extra sessions that are available in NSW. We'll find out whether other states have followed suit.
- The supplements that Chris as talking about
What I found most inspiring was Cathy and Chris sharing their experiences and showing that recovery is possible.
How about others? What really resonated?
