As part of the Healthy Minds Webcast Series, our fifth sessions is on Thursday 22 September from 7pm.
We've all heard of the term 'mindfulness', but it isn't a simple skills for everyone. So how can we make this technique a simple tool we use everyday?
For this session we will be joined by Jordan Whitehead, who is the founder of Mindfulgym (now Mindfulwaves) and is a Registered Psychologist. Jordan has worked primarily in the fields of assessment and treatment of addiction, mental health and suicide. She has studied Mindfulness in Melbourne, Australia and in India.
This interactive webcast will introduce you to simple mindfulness activities you can take with you and continue to use long after the session.
Two things you can do now

Thanks Supernova and hello to everyone! I'm seriously excited about tonight. I'm a registered Psycholgist and I teach mindfulness. I love mindfulness as it is very practical in nature and I guess that is why my career left counselling to focus on teaching mindfulness. I have always loved yoga and meditation and wanted to find an evidence based way to incorporate it into my psychological practise. I came across mindfulness training in my final year as a psychology student, completed a yoga teacher training and I was hooked.

Thanks for that clarification (about it being text based)! I was wondering if I needed to go somewhere, it's the first time I've joined a webcast with Sane and I'm quite excited. Mindfulness is such a simple yet profoundly effective tool for me.

Hi @Former-Member, @MindfulWaves and all,
i have a question. What is the difference between distracting and mindfulness and how do you chose between them when things are tough?

Hi Misch,
You are right, mindfulness is simple in concept however ever expanding in practical nature!
For all of you who haven't listened to the mindfulness presentation which was uploaded a few days ago it will give you a good idea about mindfulness, so have a listen now before I guide you through a few practises!
