Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here 🙂

Sorry to hear that, our hospital and health system is fail, its one thing to extend hospitals into skyscrapers but without extra staff its no advantage.
Governments think we want new football stadiums or submarines.
Keep trying and God bless.

Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here 🙂

Hi @greenspace ,

Thankyou so much for your support. Just reread my post and got a bit teary looking at it. I feel like I'm on the emotional rollercoaster most days, but it feels good to finally accept I'm always going to be emotional. I hope, having read my own post again that I didn't upset anyone else on here. I think part of the reason I shared so much was so I could encourage others struggling to share their challenges and gain support here in doing so.

Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here 🙂

Hello @Paulette @Backspin @Twilightsomniac @Nellanne and all new forum members. Welcome 👋😊!

I hope you enjoy the forums and find the support you need. I’m a Community Guide here who has lived experience of depression, schizophrenia and Borderline Personality Disorder along with experiencing several hospital and PARCS admissions in Victoria as part of my recovery journey. I’ve learnt that life with mental illness is a journey to be traveled with a mixture of both good and bad times but experience still and learning to be had and gained. I’m a lot stronger for these experiences and know that I’m a better person for it, even if it didn’t seem like it at the time. Mental illness doesn’t define who you are as a person- you are more than your illnesses and you need to remember that. You are wonderful, unique and special in your own way and I’m so glad you have decided to reach out for help on the forums.

There are many different forum areas to explore and find people to chat to who share a wide variety of interests and hobbies such as Knitting which is all about knitting that you might enjoy @Nellanne and other things like sports in All Things Sport... to name a few. Feel free to look around and explore the forums and post accordingly!

Take care and I look forward to seeing you around the forums!

Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here 🙂

Hi. Im new here. I suffer depression and in the past few years have been abusing alcohol drinking alone.

I need to stop and get my head right. Im starting to feel antisocial and know its only going to get worse and cause me serious harm.

So I need help.

Maybe reaching out here will be the first step.

Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here 🙂

Hi @JKK

I just wanted to reach out and welcome you to the forums - it’s great to have you here 😊

Thank you so much for sharing this part of your story with us 💜 I’m so sorry to hear that you’re living with depression and that for the past few years you’ve been struggling with alcohol use 💜

As I listened to this part of your story, I can really hear how incredibly concerned you’re feeling about the changes that you’ve noticed within yourself and the serious impact that these will have on you.

Suddenly finding ourselves inching closer and closer towards ‘the slippery slope’ can be an absolutely distressing and terrifying place to be and my heart goes out to you 💜

In my experience, reaching out for the care and support that we need can take so much courage and as such, I just wanted to say that I think that you’ve taken an incredibly brave and significant first step 😊

Our online community is full of amazing people from all different walks of life and as such, you’ll find a wonderful variety of conversations that you’re welcome to participate in 😊

We also have some great social threads, that can be a really gentle way to ease yourself into community life and take a break from some of the challenges associated with our everyday lives.

With this in mind, I’ve just shared a couple of links to a few of these threads, just in case you would like to browse through them 😊

I would love to be able to guide you towards the support that you’re currently searching for and as such, I just ever so gently wondered what do you feel would be helpful for you at this time?

Also, just while I remember, one of the things that really helped me when I was new to the forums and still finding my way around, was that if you would like to chat with another forum member, or reply to one of their posts, place @ in front of their username just like I did at the start of my post to you i.e. @JKK that way, they will receive a message that you have contacted them 😊

I look forward to talking with you again 💜

Take kind and gentle care of yourself,

ShiningStar 💜
