Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here 🙂

Hi @Lostlad

I'm new here too.

I've posted about the issues going on for me and got supportive replies.

What does your mental health and life look like?

There should be someone that can relate and provide some insight.

Travel well.

Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here 🙂

I've reached out and been accepted by the Guided Recovery thing. On Sunday, I completed and submitted the baseline questionnaire of where I'm at.

Monday was a holiday.

Now I'm still waiting for a response regarding what's next.

I find that often when I make an effort, (sometimes i get momentum), but often if I don't get a response to my action, I feel worthless and paralysed.

That's how I feel now.

I haven't eaten breakfast.

I should provably do that.

Is dopamine addiction a thing?

Like with social media addiction, and FOMO (fear of missing out).

I was on the Liven app which helped (but after 3 months it became too expensive).

It mentions Dopamine addiction.

I did find it helpful to acknowledge how I was feeling in the morning and any other time.

I'm going to eat breakfast now, and get a few things done that don't require a response from other people. Ie: Tidy my space, do a little bookkeeping work online.

I wanted to reach out this morning. Mondays aren't great for me.

But i think it helps to be abke to acknowledge how I feel to a compassionate ear.

Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here 🙂

hey there @fruitisgood welcome!! love watching movies, and i just got back into reading too. love fantasy genres, are you reading anything at the moment?

Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here 🙂

Thankyou 🙂 yes I am! Finishing off The Inheritance cycle (Eragon) and just started the 4th book. Recently read The Hobbit and fell in love. Next on the list is to read the LOTR books which I'm looking forward to because I've never read them before. What are you reading/ have you read ?

Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here 🙂

Hi @fruitisgood

I also enjoy movies.

They help me connect with emotional experiences of others and feel things are right in the world even when things go wrong.

Reading isn't right for me now, but I do listen to an audio book sometimes. I can also do it while walking.

It's good to do the things you enjoy and support your health.

Many years ago I read some SciFi (Dune, Asimov) and also read the Hobbit and parts of LOTR.

Recently, I've watched some good SciFi movies, like Interstellar and Inception, and the recent Dune movies were well done.

Have a good day.

Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here 🙂

@Zol ooo love Interstellar and Inception!! have you watched Shutter Island? it's more of a psychological thriller but i reckon you might like it! i guess Dune's worth the watch? i'm going to give it another go then!!

@fruitisgood that book series name sounds familiar, hope you're enjoying it so far!! i haven't read LOTR but i did read the Hobbit for uni once. i just started a series called 'Ember in the Ashes' and i'm also re-reading 'The Assassin's Blade' from the Throne of Glass series - i read 5/8 books from the series years ago and now i forgot the plot so i want to read them again and finally finish it. also loved the Six of Crows duology!!

Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here 🙂

Hi @rav3n
Shutter Island sounds a bit creepy although I don't know what it is about. Maybe one day.

Re Dune: I think the books and the recent Movies are very impressive and love the movies esp.

I'd encourage you or anyone to check them out.
I like the story complexities and esp the visual in the recent Dune movies,
but I totally understand that the movies might not be for some people.

(I have left Facebook because I spent a little too long discussing Dune in a group.
Sometimes it was good. But the connection with others is usually fleeting).

Re the Dune Movies: Some may have little idea of what is going on and why. Others say it departs from the books too much, (but I don't think so). There's meant to be some moral or lessons from the stories, but sometimes I wonder if it's not as valid or analogous to today or if it is too obvious. And I often have too many questions about some of the fictional science and the credibility of why the plot went a certain way. While I totally accept other aspects. So yes there is a lot of detail and can raise some questions or discussion.

Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here 🙂

it does have a bit of a creepy vibe to it haha! when you mentioned Inception, i just remembered Shutter Island because they both have Leonardo DiCaprio as the lead. @Zol

love your passion for movies/books! sometimes i get so into certain movies/books, only i jump on reddit and share all my opinions and thoughts. it's definitely nice having someone to connect/share that interest with, even if its fleeting!

after what you've mentioned about Dune, i'll be adding it to my watch list!
