I have 5 children and am struggling with some disabilities and long term mental health ( I am currently medicated for bipolar)
I can’t take care of the kids and cleaning and meals. I’m 50.
who can help? what assistance can I get? I don’t know the process. I am due to have more surgeries soon.
please if anyone has info on govt agencies or anything to help.
thank you

Hi @Today , If you don't mind me asking, how old are the children? It will make a difference in regards to the services available.
Otherwise, if you speak to your hospital, they may be able arrange a social worker to act on your behalf, or child protection.
Otherwise services such as Salvation Army are available, but it takes time to get any support.

Hi @Today,
depending on your disability, you may also be eligible for support through the NDIS?
local councils (eg through libraries) sometimes have info too.
all the best

Hello @Today and welcome. It sounds really difficult for you.
Perhaps you could try http://askizzy.org.au for everyday needs to see what help is available in your area.
The staff at your State and Federal MP's offices might be able to help you navigate government services. My MPs invite people to get in touch about all sorts of things. And your GP is a gatekeeper and referral point for some services - are they aware of your situation? Do you have a local Community Health Centre you can enquire with - they often have a wide range of supports?
And as @tyme said charities might also be able to help if you know where to start.
I'm sorry if you're facing this alone, please know that in this forum you've struck people who do care.

My children are 6, 8, 15, 15, and my dependant 23 year old daughter has disabilities and is pregnant. Baby due in 6 weeks.
I have a safe home. But my disabilities and surgeries render me unable to cope with the load.

@Today i would highly recommend reaching out to a gp and seeing what they suggest. If eligible i think applying for ndis could be highly beneficial. Does your 23 year old daughter have a support worker for her disabilities or are you her carer? I'm not sure what else to really suggest as most of it's already been covered by the previous comments.
But know that you aren't alone in this and there is a whole community here to offer support.

Would you happen to have NDIS which can provide some additional support for you at home @Today ?
I hear how hard it is for you.
