Re: Childhood trauma
@Matty19901 i get what you mean!
For me - i started by trying to process and understand my feelings first. at first i did this alone by writing it out, figuring out why i felt angry/upset, etc., but then it got to a point where i was stuck and the cycle of resentment kept repeating itself so i went to see a clinician. My clinician was amazing at validating and understanding me, and she helped me realise I was stuck on this that weren't in my control and helped me focus on things that I can control.
Have you reached out to a professional before?

Re: Childhood trauma
@rav3n yes I have but they only gave me surface level things to do and never looked at the core issues so I stopped and the one I went to retired and the others are way to expensive

Re: Childhood trauma
ahh i see! @Matty19901 it's great you've tried reaching out to a professional before, it's not an easy step. I had to switch between 3 professionals before I found one that understood me and helped my core issues.
I think venting also helped me out, and this forums a perfect place for you to do that too if that's something you'd like to do (just don't forget to make sure it meets the community guidelines!) - we're here for you 💗
also there's this trauma thread you can check out if you're interested too. do you have any self-care or self-soothing practices in place for managing your emotions? or would you like me to share some?

Re: Childhood trauma
of course! @Matty19901
here are some threads that have a range of self-care tips: self-care box, starting my self care journey and self-care activities.
here's some self-soothing tools (similar to self-care): Self-Soothing (blueknot.org.au)
personally, i like to allocate 1-2 hours each day for my self-care. if you don't have as much time, that's totally fine - in 10 mins a day can make a huge difference. my self-care involves exercising, i like going to the gym and burning my 'anger' and negative emotions through challenging myself there. some people prefer meditation, music, etc., i like to shake my stress out!
let me know which self-care/self-soothing strategies you try! 💗

Re: Childhood trauma
@Matty19901 that's totally fine!! if you click on the self-care box link in my previous message you can see the thread of what people consider their self-care items! it's just a fun way of categorising things that bring us calm/comfort. sometimes it can be things that soothe our inner child like squishy toys, puzzles, etc., or could be other items like music, candles, skin care routines, etc!
