Re: Riding a wave
All in a muddle cofuddle. We aren't supposed to discourage help seeking...but as you point out @Former-Member, why the hell would you go to hospital after reading that! I need to talk out my big feelings but there is no one. If I talk them out here I will get in trouble for discouraging help seeking. All in a muddle. @Former-Member.

Re: Riding a wave
@Former-Member What you read definitely fits with my experiences of public psychiatric wards. Having said that, the way you are treated in a psych ward does depend on your diagnosis. BPD is extremely heavily stigmatized - ESPECIALLY within the mental health system. Also, I recognise now that a lot of the behaviours I exhibit that resulted in that sort of bad stuff happening, are most likely the ASD more than the BPD, and the vast majority of mental health professionals have no idea about ASD (hence why it went undiagnosed despite 43 seperate psychiatric admissions!!!!).
Your situation is different and it is highly unlikely you would experience that sort of icky stuff. However, it is quite likely that you may witness other patients experiencing it, which I can imagine would be almost as traumatizing.

Re: Riding a wave
@Phoenix_Risingthat super sucks that you had to go through those sort of things and saddens me that this type of thing still happens within our mental health system. I am sure the article could have included a lot more examples too, which is just as distressing.
Yes my situation is different, however I they will still have to force me in there now. Think I am going to hide in my safe place under my doona for the night.
