Re: Moving forward (sexual abuse )
For many women there are no symptoms - that's why a regular pap smear is so important.
But I do agree that it doesn't need to be done straight away.

Re: Moving forward (sexual abuse )
This is just self-preservation, and a need to protect your sisters @Former-Member .... it's perfectly natural considering what you have been through.
Be gentle with yourself ....
Hugs .... ❤️💕

Re: Moving forward (sexual abuse )
@Former-Member hi. I don't think, take that back I know there is nothing wrong wit YOU! And never has been. Read your thread tonight and share many of your anxieties. I turn 50 this year and have not had the test... no activity apart from abuse and decided I would know if there was a need. Certainly not an expert. Talk to those who know, like you are on this forum.
However, understand your reluctance to be alone with males because not only do I have this fear but also tremble in the presence of catholics. It seems so illogical and yet it's there, this indescribable feeling that presents itself when religion is about.
I totally believe in faith, don't have any myself, but it's the man made stuff that gets me going. But the heart rules the head again and again and I guess we need both.
Found a quote, anonymous, that sums up my everything at the moment. I'd like to share it if that's OK!
The beast, it sits on my chest at night and rides on my back during the day!!!
I think you probably all @Former-Member@utopia@Faith-and-Hope@Former-Member@Zoe7understand a littlle
Bb.

Re: Moving forward (sexual abuse )
No ... not at all @Former-Member. It's not your fault, and it's natural to feel that way.
Healing with time and support is what you need, and you will slowly, gently make your way forward.
Yes, breathe .... breathing is calming and healing. Breathe slowly and deeply, in through your nose and out through your mouth .... strong, gentle breaths .....
Here with you ....
💜🌷

Re: Moving forward (sexual abuse )
No I dont think we should feel guilty about our feelings @Former-Member
but we have to find a way of managing them if they are too intense and out of control.
... Lots of women feel embarrassed or awkward about pap smears.
it is great that you try and look out for younger sisters though .. but having a good GP may take time to get to know .. before you feel you can trust them.
I have to log off .. but try and find settling things to do for you ..
