@The-red-centaur Your situation will present them with leading edge concerns.
Sometimes the doctors are confused, but feel they have to project certainty.
I am not sure about psych meds and sex hormones as I worry that the experts have not really worked out all the biochemical interactions. A lot of psych drugs work on the hormone system. It is an interrelated system called the endocrine system. Nobody really understands ALL about it, not even endocrinologists.
I also had a LOT of sexual and gender confusion growing up and even in the way I think, and the way males and females generally react to me. I am in menopause now and am going for the natural apporach, but guess what, my pap smear nurse had a go at me last check up for not having sex, and was advertising hormone replacement therapy to ensure I did not lose my voice. I had so much confusion, I cope by trying to reduce the number of complications. I did not even know til a few years ago that I had been sexually abused at 7, then when I was told by a Royal Commission worker who was looking at my file, and I reflected on all my experiences, lots of things made sense. At first when she told me, I dismissed it, but she kept on, and asked how I felt about it if it was another little 7 year old, not me. It was only I put little students who I knew in that position could I see how abnormal and wrong it was. That she persisted was the right thing for me at the time.
I dont know whats right for you, just talking, trying to take the sting out of it.
Take Care

The good thing is you are able to begin testosterone though @The-red-centaur - the time will fly by - especially if you need to go back to hospital to change meds. I mananged to stay out of hospital when we changed mine but I did have to see my GP everyday to make sure it was going ok. I saw my pdoc weekly as well and her and my GP were in close contact.
