Thank you for sharing your experience @Willy .i hadn't heard of CBT for psychosis. In my experience of the usual CBT, it's exhausting trying to reality check and fight thoughts constantly. I'm intrigued to learn more about this and I'll start by reading your next post here.
I have seen videos case studies and read examples of using talk style therapies for schizophrenia without any medication and it working. The intensity of the frequency of sessions is high, like almost daily but it can work.
I like your points about the high costs of medication and that's before we add the enormous costs of treating the side effects, metabolic syndrome, diabetes... I'd be the 1st to stop antipsychotics but whenever I try it leads to a relapse and the MH system is built around quick fix medication solutions, at least for now.
I'm encouraged to hear the end of psychiatry discussing the chemical imbalance hypothesis and moving into research into other ways to support recovery.
I am not in Victoria but I am thinking I'd like to try this CBT-p. It sounds way better than the alternative
