Good Morning friends!
I hope you are all travelling along ok ...... I do think of you often.
It'll be 4 weeks on Wednesday that I will have been in hospital - urrgghh, I don't like saying that out loud. However, I have improved a lot in the last couple of weeks. And that's due to the work I've put in, along with being under the care of an absolute angel female psychiatrist, med change, getting some reasonable sleep, mixing with other patients and just taking it day by day (trying not to put too much pressure on myself). Don't get me wrong, some days are still a struggle, but I feel safe with this new psychiatrist and my negative thoughts aren't so dominant. I have a sprinkling of hope back. This admission has been the good 'circuit breaker' that I really needed.
Going home isn't far off. I have mixed emotions around that, mainly because of lockdown and all the challenges that brings living on my own and not working etc. The 'Connectedness' hospital provides has helped me enormously. I'm sure some other patients wonder 'why is she here, she's always so smiley and chatting'. I have shared 'my story' with only a few. Going back to the forced isolation scares me. I've worked on creating daily/weekly planners, activity scheduling, to do lists etc. The trick is going to be keeping my motivation up to stick to these plans!! If I wake up here feeling crap or down, there's so much support around me, to get me moving to shower, eat and then attend group. At home, the temptation of sitting with the crap/down feeling will be easier (if that makes sense).
How are you all going with lockdown? I hope you are coping alright.
I haven't checked other threads yet, so not up to date with everything.
Wishing you all a good week ahead @Anastasia @BPDSurvivor @NatureLover @Bow

Hi @WIP !!!
So good to hear from you! You've put a smile on my face.
What amazing work. Thank you for sharing. I totally relate. I liked how you emphasised that much of the recovery is the work YOU are putting in. That's a great reflection, and essential for recovery. Drs, psychologists, psychiatrists can only do so much. The majority of the work is up to the individual.
Take as much time as you need to strengthen yourself during this time. Making connections and feeling connected plays a huge part in recovery. I know that's what first helped me. If you look at Maslow's hierarchy of needs, unless that feeling of belonging and connectedness is there, it is hard to manage other aspects of life.
Im so proud of you @WIP .
Looking forward to hearing from you in due time. But for now, take advantage of your inpatient stay.
Thinking of you,
BPDSurvivor
