Hi @Ceres
My son had BPD and his life was chaotic - he has been gone for a long time now and I won't load you with the details but I know how unsettling it is - how disruptive - to have your daughter losing focus on what is important in life and just seeing what is important to her alone
This is so difficult - I do understand and so glad you have found us

Hi Maggie,
Thank you for your interest in my art work but I don't really think I should post my work in this forum as it does have a unique style and I also feel it may go against the ettiquette for what the forum is about also. My daughter is/was interested in manga art which is a form of Japanese street/cartoon art and as @Faith-and-Hope mentioned is the pokemon style art. Its a tricky line to walk with my daughter and my art because I feel any little successes I've had in my life with my art I almost have to play down because it messes with her self esteem, so I'm very aware of that side of it too and put a lot of time into encouraging her with her activities how ever she doesn't commit or follow through with anything so it can be difficult at times . 🙂 . Hi @Faith-and-Hope,
yes I tend to agree re posting my art work , happy to mention what my hobbies are and discuss with others however I am involved in many different art groups on line and as a lot of people in the art community suffer mental illness issues I may not be anoymous for very long lol! and I feel that addressing my daughters issues and hopefully gaining support with that and somewhere along the line maybe being able to support and help others in similar situations is also my reason for joining. It is always encouraging and nice that people are interested in what I do though 🙂

Ooh sorry I'm still navigating the forum how to's , I just posted a reply to this in the wrong spot lol! I will refrain from posting my work at the moment Maggie however down the track if there is a seperate place to do so I may do it, but I don't want to break any forum ettiquette at this point and really want to get lots of help where my daughter is concerned at the moment but agree that we have to keep ourselves well too in order to help those we care for. I love art therapy though and have used it many times over the years. 🙂

Hi again @Ceres
Don't worry about making any mistakers - you will work it out and people can move a post if necessary
Of course you need help with your daughter's BPD - and many people here have experience with that - either themselves or with other family members
You could start your own thread - call it "My daughter's BPD" - if you don't know how to do that let us know and we can tell you or even open it for you

Thanks @Faith-and-Hope,
omigosh I'm all over the place with responses and trying to keep up with notifications at the moment so excuse me if I answer in the wrong spot and this post seems off topic . I'm also navigating a new lap top that is uber sensitive too.
I have spurts with my art and have been getting back into it a bit lately as my husband is making me a new area on our front verandah to be able to do some more painting. I have spoken to my own counsellor about the importance of keeping my own interest afloat so that I am of some use to my daughter still in keeping my own sanity.
So glad that you are in a good place with your art and how you are coping with your husbands issues too 🙂
