Re: Newbie's Social Club - Come make some friends!

Hi All, long time carer of my son with complex mental health challenges. Recognising that after 14 year of support my coping battery is drained and the ebb and flow of mental health support is a constant emotional battle

Re: Newbie's Social Club - Come make some friends!

Hi @San-dee it's nice to e-meet you!

Caring for a loved one can certainly be a really challenging task! What are somethings that help to replenish you when you're feeling drained? Do you have any supports who you can lean on yourself?

Re: Newbie's Social Club - Come make some friends!

Hi Everyone,

I care for my 17year old with adhd autism and bpd (late diagnosis - 14/15 years old when diagnosed despite seeing every type of specialist when she was young because I thought there was something going on).

I also care for her sister who is low functioning asd. I myself was late diagnosed with adhd/autism. (35 when diagnosed).
The last 3 years have been particularly challenging with daughter becoming violent towards us. She is currently refusing therapy and does not work or go to school.
Have had trouble finding consistent support that doesn't give up because it's "too hard". (Daughter likes to go to talk but then was not ready to do DBT so they cancelled her support).
