Re: Newbie's Social Club - Come make some friends!

Thankyou my new friend :3

I find it really hard to imagine and put myself in the shoes of how other people experience day-to-day life without the ongoing struggle of sleep disorders causing regular chaos, unfortunately (or fortunately?) its a familiar beast.

As luck would have it - despite a few commitments on yesterday and today, I noticed a runny nose at the end of last week, testing positive on friday (using an at home test) for Influenza A (and a faint positive for Influenza B too) which was a more socially acceptable reason to withdraw this weekend.

To try and avoid mucking up my circadian rhythm, once it got past the point of a sensible sleep time last night, I've kept myself occupied with light entertainment on Netflix whilst drawing/scribbling on procreate on my ipad - chilling in bed (with my oodie on) trying to sweat out the Flu.

Once it gets to around 7.30pm tonight I'll try and proactively catch back up on the sleep debt from last night - but for now just trying to keep my mind (gently) active whilst relaxing under blankies.

I'm so sorry to hear that your husband is having trouble with sleeping recently too - I really hope it's just a temporary glitch he's had and that he gets the best most wholesome sleep tonight and wakes feeling rested and recharged tomorrow

Re: Newbie's Social Club - Come make some friends!

Hope you feel better soon @TooManyAcronyms remember to stay hydrated

My husband and I have the flu for the week and a half so that does not help with sleep

gp appointment tomorrow for him

Re: Newbie's Social Club - Come make some friends!

My mum (bless her) recently bought one of those 24 packs of 500ml sparkling water bottles - I have been unapologetically guzzling them whilst feeling unwell. Despite it not being covid my taste buds seem to have been affected so the fizziness makes it seem more interesting as everything tastes the same right now.

Wishing you both a speedy recovery, I dont know about you, but I reckon this flu season kicked off earlier (and seems to be harsher and more easily spread around?) than recent years.

It definitely doesn't help with sleep, I feel for you both! Everytime I lay down at the moment, I'm coughing more than when I'm upright. I get dozey and then the closer to horizontal I lay the worse the symptoms are.

Stay hydrated too and yess get your hubby to a GP to make sure hes okay ❤️

Re: Newbie's Social Club - Come make some friends!

Hi @Shaz51,

Apologies for the late reply!

Doing okay, feeling really tired haha. Trying to navigate through support services for my partner, it's really frustrating. I had to advocate on the phone yesterday that this one service absolutely cannot arrive at 10am in the morning, because my partner has insomnia (and doesn't sleep until 8am). This service was absolutely adamant about coming, but I kept advocating against it and we sorted it out. As a carer I really wasn't impressed lol. It made me feel really validated though, because a lesser me would've just accepted it and suffered the consequences; so I felt rather proud 🙂

It's off uni time, so I have way more spare time to myself. Trying to enjoy it, but can't help feeling like I need to be productive. Trying to be to myself.

Re: Newbie's Social Club - Come make some friends!

Hi

Thx for the welcome

Dont really know my way around the forum, so im kinda hesitant about posting. I will slowly get used to how things work and look forward to positive interactions with everyone 🙂

I have BPD, have no friends, and kinda sit at home playing games all day. Not sure how to interact with others and wouldnt mind connecting with people with similar problems (Especially if they have somehow overcome some of the social anxiety and have tips !).

Hope everyone is having a good day

Re: Newbie's Social Club - Come make some friends!

hey @KevinNew83! welcome 😊

no worries, please do take your time and feel free to tag me or anyone else if you need a hand with navigating the forums.

we have a bunch of different spaces, you can read through/post in any of them. to reply to someone's post, you click the 'reply' button at the bottom of their post.

to tag someone: you put a @ symbol first, type the username (a drop-down box will come up), and select the member(s). this way, the person tag will be notified of your response.

i think starting a new discussion would help you connect with others in a similar boat! you could make one new discussion or even 2 (if you wanted to chat about social anxiety tips and BPD separately). if you'd like a hand with this, let us know - we can walk you through the steps 😊 also there's no pressure to post the new discussion today/now, so you can always reach out later too!

looking forward to connecting with you!
