@HenryX  Merry Christmas and hope you had a great day

Re: Henry's Landing Strip & Hangar

Hello @Eve7 , @jem80 , and @Appleblossom , @Former-Member , @Lise07

Thank you for your greetings. I went to be with a friend and her family for lunch. I was well received and the company was very pleasant. I really feel rather priviliged, since the family is of a different culture than my own, and yet I am acknowledged and accepted within their family group. For me, that is very special on any ocassion, but especially at Christmas time.

With My Best Wishes to All

Re: Henry's Landing Strip & Hangar

Hello  @Emelia8 ,

I'm really a little concerned to ask if your day has been pleasant. I do hope that something good, pleasant or even peaceful has happened for you today.

If I recall correctly, you had planned to have lunch with neighbours. It is definitely my wish that there may have been a bright spot there.

I Offer You @Emelia8  My Greeting of Care, Concern and

Best Wishes,

@HenryX

Hello  @Former-Member ,

From messages that I have read, it seems to have been a tradition for you to have the celebration of Christmas on the day before Christmas day, with today being more a quiet day for you.

I know that you mentioned that you and your daughter had felt especially close during these days. That being so, gives me pleasure to know.

Likewise, my Greeting to You, @Former-Member is offered with My Care, Concern and

Best Wishes

@HenryX

Re: Henry's Landing Strip & Hangar

Thank you @HenryX . Your recollection is correct, in that I did indeed have christmas lunch with my neighbours. It was a lovely meal, and I was appreciative of their company. I did not stay very long however, as my pain levels increase when sitting and also when walking. Although its only about a 100 meter walk, its a struggle and a painful process.

I am glad you spent Christmas with friends. You mentioned they are of a different culture to yourself. I would be interested to know if it was a traditional christmas meal, or something different in line with their culture.

Hi @Former-Member @Appleblossom @Eve7 @jem80 @Clawde and others.

Re: Henry's Landing Strip & Hangar

Hello  @Emelia8

I am very pleased that you were able to enjoy the company of your neighbours and the meal shared with them.

Unfortunately, I am fully aware of the pain that you are experiencing and the distress that it causes, even when walking as short a distance as 100 metres. In fact, the difficulty that I had walking just 100 metres was the measure by which the initial problems that I was experiencing, at that time, was gauged. Even the fact that no position, standing, lying or sitting seems to reduce the pain level, is an aspect that I, thankfully, only recall faintly. That is not to say that I have no issues with pain now, but it is, at least manageable with considered movement and relatively low levels of medication. It is now about 20 years since the first operation that I had. Despite the fact that the benefits are diminishing, as would my capacity, in any case, at my age, the value of the operations that I have had is still very evident.

Consequently, I believe that relief for you, from the pain and difficulties that you are experiencing, is "in sight". Something that I do hope, for your sake, will occur quite soon.

The Christmas meal that I shared with my friends was a “traditional” Christmas meal, though, with appropriate deference to Australian conditions and temperatures here in the mid-forties, was prepared and served as a cold meal, with the usual meats served cold and salads. Actually, because there were sixteen people present, there was a greater variation and range in the different dishes offered, than one would expect with a hot baked meal.

The gathering was at a home 60 kms from where I live and, rather than snow or ice being an impediment to travel, it was the heat of the day.

Despite the heat, I enjoyed being with that family immensely. It was, as I had expected, uplifting and very nurturing.

With My Best Wishes

@HenryX

I am glad you had company and food with neighbours @Emelia8 ... despite it all.

@HenryX Glad you were invited and enjoyed the day even given the heat and the drive.

I had as good a day as possible.  Christmas lunch in a local park with a group of nearly 20 from a group of son's friends.  There was mainly good cheer, but need of pointing out a deceptive person as son can be naive and very open.  My battery also conked.  My fault.  RACV came to rescue with a free battery in warranty so all good and we got home.  It was great seeing my son socialising with pretty women and kicking a soccer ball. He wore my chrissie present of a gorgeous kangaroo on his back. I had the company of an elderly man distinguished in his way
