@Former-Member
I don't think that comment is very accurate. As a socialist I way it not a slippery slope towards communism.
Without socialism you wouldn't have public healthcare, welfare, free childhood dental.
I would say capitalism is taking away out liberties. The far right are making sure only the rich have rights. Or pushing religious views on others where religion shouldn't come into politics.
Saying that I think society needs a mixture of both capatilsm and socialism to get by. Look at the Nordic countries etc. They have the happiest people in the world and follow closely to socialist ideals.
I think all people deserve rights. Not just those in power or money.

Hey there @The-red-centaur 🙂🌺
thanks for the tag - however, I was kindly wondering if you’re referring to my comment about govt being a bit too distant from the people it governs, and that govt could learn much from those of us that have experienced hardship, or I was wondering if you may be referring to @Former-Member ’s comment in which I am tagged, and where I have only partially addressed points raised (noting I did not comment, agree with or otherwise address any political mentions)?
Just to clarify, I haven’t mentioned any political standpoint/leaning/parties in any posts - I don’t discuss my personal preference in politics, and I don’t provide any opinion or judgement on other people’s political opinions - I believe it’s not my place to do so, I only go as far as to say that govt could be much more connected to the people of this country, and would do well to listen to those of us with lived experience 🙂
Gently with regards to your comment, I think it’s very much a great time to look around the globe and see where people are happy, living well, and there’s equity/accessibility, and see what positives Au can draw from that and use to help Au become a great place of fairness and a happy healthy place to live 🙌🏻🙂🌺

@Former-Member I saw one senator in the USA at a town meeting last year on twitter call for the re-institutionalisation of the mentally ill as de-institutionalisation "had failed" - It was met with a thunderous applause from the audience who all want the mentally ill back in institutions. No joke. More pharmaceuticals for profit and more restraint. The USA possibly has senators being paid by pharmaceuticals to roll this agenda out.

Thanks for sharing that @Former-Member ❤️🩹🌺
it’s terribly sad that there clearly is a significant lack of appropriate consultation and consideration for and with the people concerned 😔 when stuff like this happens, demonstrating the clear disconnect between govt and the people..all the people…and could well likely be leaning towards optics and funds motives (what might look better while redirecting funding where it suits investors).
I’ve just read an article in the Guardian (titled: ‘California wants to force people into mental health care. Advocates say it will backfire’ published 01/03/2024) about California Prop. 1 which is pretty much what you’ve said, with backing by investors with a vested interest in building and running the proposed physical structures they’re considering 😔
This is the stuff that is scary, and advocacy to prevent this kind of thing happening here is integral to upholding our rights 🙂❤️🩹

Wow they put out that article today @Former-Member yes had a read of it. Thanks for sharing, something is afoot but I think its investor driven like you said. Lots of people are fleeing democrat states like California now and moving to republican states like Texas or Florida. Its getting really intolerable in Commiefornia now with so many MI and drug addicts on the street and crime waves there. The USA is imploding.
In astrology the country is experiencing what is called their "Pluto Return" where everything either devolves or rises from the ashes. We also have what is known as The Great American Eclipse this month and the path of the eclipse goes through Texas and Arizona borders where illegal immigrants get in. Its literally destroying the country as these migrants run amock. I know someone who said the USA is just not what it once was after travelling back there last year but there is a definite spotlight on borders and migrants causing the levels of civil unrest they are experiencing. The USA is a demolition job right now

Hey there @Former-Member 🙂🌺
Yes, it's really distressing for the people where there is a lot of mis-government/mismanagement, sadly.
I had a person I knew a little while back who said living in Nevada isn't what it once was, too.
I hold a bit of hope that things will change, however it's difficult when there is little focus on seeing that countrywide person and social health contributes to the health of the entire nation - the more well the population is, the more productive and resilient.
🙂💜
