We haven't met before have we, @WIP? Nice to meet you! Yes, coffee and a chat with the people we have got to know here would be so good for our spirits.
Is that your pup on your photograph page? Very cute.
I liked the piece written by JK Rowling. I came across some of her personal writing recently and her intellect rather astounded me. I hadn't expected it.
I will have to look into finding some photographs to upload.

No, we haven't met before, but I have read some of your inspiring posts.
How good would it be, if we could all get together F2F?!?! But, I guess that's not the design of this forum.
Yea, that's my 8monthnold pup - my saviour thru covid. He's getting his 🎾🥎🏀's snipped tomorrow - I'm so nervous.
I came across that JK Rowling quote by accident and it really resonated with me.

@WIP I have been having such a low day today but all it takes is a message or two from the caring folks on this forum and my mood magically lifts. I could become addicted! That's why I'd love to meet up with everyone. It would be a magic potion for all of us because talking about our problems all the time can be such a downer - and we all need the opportunity to brighten our days.
Your pup is gorgeous. And mischievous no doubt.

Yes @Historylover I've been so unwell that I've morw often than not posted when I've been in dispair and not able to offer help to others in need. That really saddens me, I'm usually so independent and don't like to dump my issues on others. Luckily this place is unconditional.
yes. That's my little Levi - a ball of fun, love & mischief

Actually @MDT I don't know what it is about history that I particularly love.
I love the opportunity to observe the paths civilizations have taken and the stories which have been left behind in artefacts, buildings, beautiful and exquisitely crafted jewellery and treasures which abound in museums - and make my head spin!, art, lost skills which are ancient yet astonishingly skilled even to our modern senses, (or perhaps especially to our modern 'senses'), our own family histories which have brought us to this point in time etc.
Television has been a great educator in this regard. Our ancestors knew so little of the world really.
I am not a deep intellectual but I love having passed through a time in my life where I valued everything which was modern and new - and left it far behind!
These days I have no time for modern society. I regard it as quite lost and devoid of values. So to be able to reflect on things which civilizations and societies have left behind and have a high regard for them gives my life meaning. I'm just grateful that I have learned to value such things. I didn't once.
I love antiques too and if I had the opportunity to buy a home, I would love to buy something quite old and steeped in its own history. There are some beautiful old homes near me and I think the owners are just so lucky!
This has all got quite deep and meaningful hasn't it? No-one has ever asked me that question before!

Sorry to hear that you have been unwell @WIP. General illness or Depression etc.? I haven't responded to many posts. It seems that others are better at knowing the right thing to say. I just respond occasionally. Sometimes it is just so hard to know what to say. Some people are having to carry more than their fair share.
Sometimes we just have to have somewhere to unload our problems. This is currently the only place/people I will turn to. It has been so good for me. I have learned so much since I joined - about others, about myself and about what is going on in our society. I thought I knew a bit until I came here!
