Re: Good Morning!
Hi @Former-Member Thanks for the update.
Wow, lots of driving (I would struggle with that) - lots of stresses & sad things, with some lovely scenery & places along the way.
I remember the names of some of the towns & places that you mentioned.
I've not been there in over 25 years (I think).

Re: Good Morning!
@Former-MemberXOXO
I am so sorry about your Dad, & the other poor man. That's HORRIBLE to say the least, I feel for you, your Dad, & that Man 😞
Growing old is such a terrible thought, any way life goes on. I had to stop myself from dwelling on it, as I have so much pain & damage in my body. I sometimes think I need help. I will stay as strong mentally, & physically, as I can for as long as I can.
I love the way your describe your trip, it made me smile, wish I had the resources to go for a drive too. I think I better stop typing, I keep going down hill, I start off up, & slide quite quickly!! X
Bye 4 Now!

Re: Good Morning!
@Former-Member Definitely glad you posted. Was wondering about how you were. That part of the world is exceptionally beautiful. I have not been there for 40 years ... but still remember its impact.
Glad you could spoil son.
Course you need a few days to recover. One of my differences to many people is that I remember state group care as being kinder than what happened in my family. Then I get in trouble cos I dont "love" my family enough. So there are all sorts of ambivalences for me. The staff are busy and I hope they are doing their best. It is important to focus on what is really necessary.Your dad will be alright. Be kind to you.

Re: Good Morning!
I was touched by what you said about your dad. It's a true sign of your care and I imagine he was very happy to see you 🙂 I like hearing tales like that.
I hope you are okay as of now, sounds like the travel did some good 🙂

Re: Good Morning!
Hi @Former-Member - really touched that you were able to find some joy during what must have been a very stressful and challenging time for you.
Bet you didn’t realise that you had such inner strength. You dug deep, pulled it out and look what you have accomplished. We are all very impressed.
There will be challenges ahead and when they do face you, think about all the stuff you thought you could never do, but did anyway.
You are AMAZING!! Take care, rest up - do something nice for yourself. You deserve it.

Re: Good Morning!
@Former-Member, Welcome back. 🙂 Have been watching for you. Glad your trip had so much beauty in it.
When my parents went into aged care, they had already gone past the point where their home was safe, and even if my sister or I had been free to be live in carers, they couldn't have coped with steps and other everyday things that had become hazards anyway. So it was a huge weight off our minds having them moved to somewhere safe. Your Dad's position does sound more "ambivalent". If he was in there permanently, a lot of the hiccups would get sorted out. Staff would get used to offering him sweetener, they'd learn to look out for the orth boots. But understandably, home is an attractive prospect, for as long as it's safe.
But yeah, give yourself a few days rest before tackling such big questions. Good to have you back at the forum.
