Takes me back half a century...                           .   A time when a rusty old valiant wagon

was all the stood between me and violence.       Torn seats,  a thousand rattles,  leaks n a tip rescue mattress

in the back.   Some faded rag curtains n a radio.

That was it. . .   My world . . . .   But what a world. .  .  When night gave way to dreams,  that rocket ship

was faster than any grubby finger,  wet breath n teeth,  pederast  nightmare's grasp,  n nothing and no one could touch me ever again. . ! 

Rockets for tyres,  kaleidoscope visions on every  cracked window of what I prayed,  was at wormholes 

end. . . 

14 years old I was.   My drivers licence was my  Phd  education to better worlds beyond.    I nursed that ugly,  yet beautiful pile of scrap to the tip of the continent, 

One lonely road,  Her heart gave out in the heat and she passed her soul on to me to shore up the damage in mine.   Her  Ghost probly still rattles the red dust stock

routes.            I thumbed lifts for ages.    felt like a betrayal to give my heart to another,   too  soon.
